I manage IT for a living, and I am a total computer nerd. Even I don't feel the need to modify the crap out of something. Maybe Android folks feel the need to do so because what they get out of the box isn't quite as good as you want, and maybe Apple folks don't feel the need to...because...well...Apple does it right to begin with?

I truly wonder how many of these people that complain about Apple being so "locked down" actually modify their Androids and do things to them that you couldn't do to an iPhone.

Wait...are you serious? DROID phones are made by multiple (as in, more than one) companies? SHIT.

That was my whole point dude. Apple doesn't allow just anybody to make their products. They demand a certain level of craftsmanship, certain criteria for critical parts where the others don't. This, in my idiotic opinion, is one of the biggest factors that sets them apart from the others. If you want something done right, do it yourself...or be smart enough to demand a certain result.

You can't tell me that when pick up a Dell laptop and then pick up a MacBook Pro that you can't tell the difference. If so, then you sir, are the idiot.

Also, keep in mind that I use PC's all day long and my oldest brother has worked for Microsoft for 17 years...I love PC's, use them all day long and respect them for all of the good things they bring to the market.

Apples & Oranges (literally). Look at the pricetag... Perhaps you should compare two machines that are similar in price AND quality. You're comparing a cheapo manufacturer to a "premium" one. Try Sony Vaio to Apple.... That's a little bit more fair.

Yea, like no widgets, no notification bar (o wait they stole that in iOS5...) no options...

Enjoy your walled garden. I'll enjoy my freedom...

It's going to be tough...I just can't seem to get this stupid iOS to wire frivolous money to my bank account...I need a DROID, I hear you can do anything you want with those. :p

I'm not arguing against iPhones. I'm just stating that his example will happen with any smart phone. I have a android phone (Motorola Atrix) and my wife has an iPhone 4. She loves her phone and I love mine.

Both phones have their advantages. If you like it, get it. Who gives a hoot.

As for value, mine will plug into my lapdock and I can browse with a full Mozilla browser while still using all the phone's features. I can log into a citrix client and use a remote desktop. It supports up to 32gb SD cards and has 16gb of internal memory, 1gb of ram, dual core.

When I get off the plane after a 6 hour flight of constant use, it's fully charged because the lapdock is also a large battery that recharges the phone. I've even used it to charge my wife's iPhone on the plane (usb port) while it's charging mine and being used in laptop mode. I have a car dock that switches the phone to a different mode for use in a car (gps navigation, music, video recorder, camera, etc). It happens automatically when it's plugged into the dock. I have an HD dock that hooks up to my tv to watch netflicks, browse the web or whatever.

Some hackers on XDA have even managed to get a full install of Ubuntu Linux running on the phone's webtop (the os that boots when the phone is in the lapdock or the HD dock).

I completely understand. No hard feelings here man - I thoroughly enjoy good tech-talk/arguments/debates.

The Atrix is definitely a sweet phone.

I'm thankful for the various VoIP/SoftPhone/RDP apps that are out for the iPhone/iPad now. Incredibly useful for me when I am traveling and not able to access my PC laptop to fix something at one of the branches or here in our corporate office.

This is the best point you have brought up yet. The one thing I have wanted Apple to change since these phones first came out.

I have no problem pointing out areas that need improvement. :D

I have no problem with Apple, I just think their stuff is over rated and over priced. Some people will buy anything with an apple on it.

That said, I really do like the iPhone. Hell, I even have an iPhone rom on my Droid (MIUI). It's just the phones, themselves, havent been enough to get me to switch. Droid does everything iPhone does and then some. I really hope the iPhone 5 blows me away tho.

A Frontier can do everything a Tacoma can do (don't think too hard about this)...why did you choose a Tacoma? You feel they are a superior product, right? :p

They can do everything a Tacoma can do. I just happened to get a better deal on a Tacoma. So, that analogy doesn't really work on me :p
