Yeah, it really doesn't matter. Just look for some that are about 1/4" thick.

So, I just bought an '09 TRD "Sport". Dumped the Suburban, the kids are gone.
Lots of good info here. I'm still a little fuzzy.
    Here's what I've got;

    This thing in the back?

    Nothing in the Access doors.

    And these in the front,

    Bottom,

    http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v514/hisfive/Taco/DSC04242.jpg

I'm just looking to "upgrade" the fronts right? Leave all else alone?
I'm 55 and hearing is pretty crappy, but am I right in thinking replacing the fronts will improve the muted sound from the stocks?

    Thanks in advance.

that thing in the back just from what i can tell from this pic it looks to be a amp. The little black speakers on the top of the doors are tweeter speakers, which in your case you probably dont have it because if im not mistaken, only certain packages have those. the bottom door speakers will be 6x9's. If your looking to replace the door speakers then you will need to of course either order some new speakers offline or purchase them from your local sound shop. You will also need to go to taco tunes and order the spacers for your speakers, without these your window will hit the top of your speaker when you roll the windows down. You can also make your own, but whatever u make them out of needs to be 1 1/4" thick. a couple of speaker wire connecters and a little spare time and you should be ready to go!

If your looking to order a set of door speakers this website is where i have ordered my whole sound system, they will show items that specifically fit your vehicle.- sonicelectronix.com
And the website for the ********* will be.- *********.com

Hope this helps you, and if you have any more ?'s feel free to send me a Private Message!

actually that's the factory subwoofer, I think there is an amp within that but it's mainly a subwoofer in there (guessing 6" or something)

The amp is a teeny thing, either in the dash or under the seat - not for certain.

in the rear (at least the double cabs for the most recent years), the speaker is in the headliner. For the most part, you can get good speakers in the front, then fade the speakers all the way to the front and not have an issue.

All models have a 'component' setup in the front door. there is a speaker near your feet, which is a 6"x9" in a custom housing. The one near your hand (that you have pictured) is supposed to be a tweeter, but is more like a trashy midrange speaker. When you replace them, you will need to make sure and get a set of component speakers, the best option being a 6.5" midrange with a seperate tweeter, like this example.

You will need a bracket made for both the midrange and the tweeter for mounting purposes, but I would NOT advise *********. Numerous members have had issues with their service, and we banned the manager from this website. I would highly suggest talking to Mr. Marv, who can be reached at 1-831-383-0308. His products are fantastic. Additionally, he's a car audio nut who has lots of great, down-to-earth knowledge. He's also an older guy, so he's going to be in touch with what you want.

I recently bought some MDF baffles from them and one looked like they didn't clamp it well during machining. The lettering was all chewed up and the round center hole wasn't uniformly cut. It actually had a step in it. I made it work for me, but was disappointed by the level of quality control considering how much they charge. However, the how-to videos sure are nice. Even though I know how to take off my door panels, I find myself "studying" these videos again and again.

My '08 RC Base has tweeters, so I'd be pretty confident saying that all models have them.

Also, not all models have 6x9 in the front doors, mine were round...

    Depending on what you need.

I ordered my adapters from them and they were here PDQ, no issues.

    BUT....

I sent an email asking about the tweeter wiring.
    No response.

Oop, you are right about the front door sizes. In any case, a baffle is necessary for that portion.

The new Tweeter and midrange should be wired to a crossover, which is then wired to your existing speaker output.

    Correct.

My question was based on reports from others that they lost everything when they unplugged their tweeters.

    spkrwire.jpg

Unplugging the tweeter disconnects the mid. You need to cut the tweeter away from it's harness and make sure the reds are connected, and the blacks are connected, and both are insulated, then plug the tweeter connector back in.

It sucks for those who want to keep their stock wiring harness intact and who want to sell their tweeters.... or keep them for reinstalling when they trade in.

    Hey, thanks!
I DO have the tweeters in the door.
And after talking to the stealership, found out it is a factory "sub woofer" in the back.
    "Amp" I'm not sure about?

    Awesome!
He's also an older guy, so he's going to be in touch with what you want.
Like a gut punch, :) Now I'm a senior citizen? You yungins' just wait!

And so, can I just pull out my old front speakers and wire in new aftermarket or do I have to rewire all this crossover stuff????
What do you mean by "Baffle"???
