I think iOS 5 is much more innovative than the iPhone 4S. iOS 5 has hundreds of new features and it'll be pushed out to all Apple devices automatically once it comes out. If you want iOS 5 and save some money, buy a refurbished iPhone 4 and it'll come with iOS 5. I'm personally gonna wait another couple years until the iPhone 5...or 6 by that time.

I was checking out those LifeProof cases, definatelly something I need. Perhaps I'll resurect an old Iphone mount I had started years ago for the tacoma but never finished.

I'm glad they resolved the antenna issue, mine you have to hold it a vertain way for it to get signal. Holding it from the left hand sides will result in sudden signal death both for phone signal and Wifi.

I agree with you, in that Apple will use Siri as a way to encourage people to upgrade.

However, you can get the Siri App that works very well and pretty much does the same thing. Although, I have obviously not been able to test it against the "real" Siri yet.

iOS 5 is amazing. I've had the developer version for a while now and even that has been incredibly stable.

I'm stoked to finally update my personal iPhone.

I have heard that the Siri app no longer works because the 4S has it exclusively. Is this true?

    Yep. That's what I thought.

Now you have to buy a 4S to use Siri.

I really think, while somewhat convenient, Siri is pretty gimmicky and won't be used much in the real world. Siri shouldn't have been their focal point for the marketing of the 4S.

I know that Apple's latest release schedule is 3G > 3GS > 4 > 4S, but now-a-days the phone market is much more competitive. I think they should have focused on a redesign, and not on some voice command application.

Mine is still working on my 4 - I bet as soon as I update it the app will die.

I think it's smart of Apple.

Apple doesn't need to worry about a redesign - did you see the numbers? They are doing just fine. :D

I also don't think Siri took that much of their time, most of that code had to already be there (given there was already a similar app).

I don't know about that. If the app is more integrated into the phone rather than an app, it's probably better as it's more seamless.

As for the phone models, the 4 was a big jump from the 3G, not so big from the 3GS. I'd say if you're on a 3Gs, the jump to 4GS would be much more satisfying.

Completely agree with all of this.

The 3GS to the 4GS is going to be a huge jump and will probably change your life.

I don't like a company deciding for me what should or should not go on my phone. If the app is crap, I'd take it off myself. But if I'm fine with the app and like how it works, who is Apple to decide I shouldn't have it anymore unless I buy their new phone?

I see your point, but they have a right to it given that it is their software the app uses.

Regardless, Siri is not life changing. You should be able to go on Craigslist and find a nice Eastern European girl to come and do all of that stuff for you at a decent price. :p

So for anyone who wants the older iPhones, I see that Apple will sell the iPhone 4 for $99 and iPhone 3GS for free on contract.

I will be pre-ordering a 4s at at&t on friday. i currently have 2 iphone 4's. One has a cracked screen but still works fine. I will sell them to pay for the new phone. Thats just one thing i like about apple phones. They hold their value. Resale of used phones is a piece of cake. When the Iphone 5 comes out. I will sell the 4s to help pay for it too!

So probably the best feature that OS 5 came out with was the banner notifications. Its so much nice to see your texts your getting across the top of the screen than the big window notification.
