    Well...

Why would you trade in the truck if you're going to have it paid off in a year vs a new car with 4-5 years to pay on?

I dont know much about car payments but thats a no brainer.

If you want to part it out, well do it. Your call.

Trying to save 200/mo by getting a new car? The terms "saving" and "new car" don't belong in the same sentence unless you are extremely downgrading. Keep in mind that vehicles are the worst investment in the world. Therefore, it would be financially smart to keep one that is almost paid off rather than getting a new one. Especially if you're thinking about getting a house soon.

In the end it's up to you. If you and your wife can handle it and you think it's the right move, then good luck to you.

well the thing is i want a new vehicle... the thought of 200 a month less is fine with me because i plan on keeping it and i dont mind to pay for 4 years...i go through 2 tanks of gas a week though just driving to work and back and the miles just keep racking up.... so a new car would be good

see, this is the info we need. sounds like you are "all in". go for it.

i have purchased a few new cars. the new car feel is fantastic. the smells, the emotional highs..100% of the time, the smells go away, the highs go away..and then all you are left with is some stupid fucking car payment.

think about it. you had a full time chubby when you got the tacoma. now it is an old hat and you want something new. you will post up in some subie forum one day, saying. "thinking of trading in the subaru..."

guaranteed. i broke the cycle. you will never get ahead financially if you keep this up..EVER.

Good point. I plan on keeping it though either way. but at the current time with the house and all its easier for a cheaper payment to be able to afford the house that my wife wants... i mean its not just what i want but in order to move into a house and be able to afford it it just seems like this is my best choice for now

mathematically, it is a very bad decision.

not to mention that; if $200 makes or breaks a home purchase, i wouldnt even buy into a home at this point.

but go for it. it could work.

Pay off the truck and put away 300/month and never have a car payment again.

Subaru's are great (and fun!) cars, but I have to agree with TRDSPORT89, as well as the others... paying off the truck and not having a monthly payment would financially, be a much more sound/secure decision (especially if you have a wife and family who depend on your income for financial support).

That being said, I do think it's important to be happy with the car you drive. After all, we are all on here because we are automotive enthusiast right? And for us, an automobile that puts a smile on our face, is something worth considering.

Definitely weigh the pros and cons on this one man... financial security for the long term (i.e., no car payments after the end of next year... may come in handy if heaven forbid, you lose your job or a significant part of the household income), vs. your own personal enjoyment, and the great feeling that having a fun ride gives you.

Both have their time and place. :)

So any update? Did you end up going to the Subaru dealership?

Listen to this guy. In a year you will have no payments and an awesome truck that holds its value well. Do not get a wrx it will just make your money problems worse long term.
