I'm in the library as I read this. People are looking at me like I'm a nut because I'm sitting here laughing to myself. Good one.

That is a pretty broad spectrum. Personally, if I HAD to do the Army (again) and those were my choices, I would go intel. Way more opportunity on the outside.

As for avionics mech, when I was Army, all they did was swap out boxes..they never "worked" on anything. Maybe things have changed.

Have you looked into Sensor Operator in the USAF? They run the gear on the UAV's and are considered "aircrew" which means more money. Plus, you can sit in a box in Vegas and fly operations in Afghanistan/Iraq. And contractor opportunities are HUGE for that. We have some guys that were former sensor operators here in this shit hole of a country (Afg) that are making 22K a month.

Just something to think about. Either way..good on you for stepping up.

sensor operator sounds like a prett cush job lol. its to bad my recruiter was such a lazy person. I am much happier with the way my things are handled with the army. it is a pretty broad choice of jobs but it hits all my interest, and with my scores i could get most jobs. i just hope there are good jobs open.

def consider what transfers well to a civi job, but at the sametime the military is often times your only opportunity to do stuff that you can only do while your in

i know you know that though...

Just my two cents. I'd recommend MI.

I retired through Fort Meade and going through ACAP with me were were some MI guys. At least three civilian contractors came through there giving "we want you" speeches and handing out business cards to them.

The other stuff is fun, but it doesn't pay the bills when you get out.

Joined the Army? Well.....good for you. Thanks for being part of the 1%.

Any interest in law enforcement? My Dad was an Army CID Agent. I was close with alot of CID agents when I was in Iraq. A badass job.

not sure about ARMY but the AF has some crazy reenlistment bonus for Intel... hard to keep guys in with all that cash available on the outside.

Check out CID. You can't join right away. Think you have to be in a few yrs but worth it if its your thing.

Get to be a "Special Agent" and do law enforcement. Pretty cool stuff.

Don't get discouraged. Go visit the CID detachment where you are and get the recruitment info. Stay on top of it. There is always someone assigned that does recruiting.

Trust me when I say, don't pass up any good opportunities. Go seek, don't let it come to you.

I was snubbed by my career field for the AFOSI. They were not allowing cross-train at the time and I wasn't allowed to retrain.

Had I had someone guiding me when I was a first term Airman I would have know the ropes.

Don't be fooled into thinking you are taken care of. Take control of yur own career.
