Gun in church

Seems more like they needed Kevlar vests in church.

That said, I'm sticking with my policy of "when, where, how you carry your firearms in the US is not the government's business unless you are on government property."

 

By not ever going to church, I am completely removing the possibility that I'll ever be shot in church.

 

A valid strategy with a high percentage chance of success!

i dont believe govt can ban weapons on govt property because the governments primary function is to protect the individual persons civil rights....they cant say hey this is what we're here for then do the opposite themselves...now in an area like a courtroom or a prison that is where i would approve of a ban

That said, sometimes circumstantial limitation of rights is necessary for preservation of the right in society as a whole. An example would be free speech and contempt of court. You can say what you want about the judge, just not during court proceedings.

There is always context. I say it's none of the government's business off government property. I say the government may choose to make it its business on their property because there are certain hazardous environments that could be made more hazardous by unregulated carry. Furthermore, I'm also a big fan of ownership rights. "Government property" and "public property" are not the same thing, though they can overlap.

 

it doesnt matter... its about freedom and stopping the government from infringing on the rights they are supposed to protect...

I don't expect you to agree- It's so great where you are that no one would ever hurt anyone else-Good for you.
I don't live in an area that has the same reality...so I take care of myself and my family.

 

Let's be real...government acting as a neutral party ended in the 80s when big money took over DC for good.

While I agree with you philosophically, the realist in me thinks hopeless causes are a bit silly.

I'm betting a lot of this is selective griping...while I agree with personal liberty re: firearms, I'm betting a lot of people working the "constitutionalist" angle didn't rape the internet with angry posts when the Patriot Act got signed in.
