Alright guys I took the time today to strip off all of the chrome on my grille, and now I have two options.

    Option A
Color Match the grill to the truck

    Obtion B
Color match the grill to my emblems and fenders.

Here are some pictures of the truck

If I match the emblems and fenders Ill be painting it myself with krylon fusion from wally world. If I color match it to the truck my uncle who works in a toyota body shop will be painting it for me with BSP and a clear coat.

    Discuss and vote!

man, is that thing black or black.. This may sound crazy but what about spray on bed liner, hold can back far from the grill so it has the look of the flairs, I have been playing around with the liner & undercoat You can get 3 looks out of each can.Its not that big but the grill in body color is overkill on the gloss black. Just the old dogs eye:eek::anonymous: Jim

the chrome is actually like a foil that is bonded to the plastic, I sanded one of the edges down to the bare plastic, then got a pressure washer under that edge and jut kept working at it. takes some work to get it all off.

not sure, no harm for tryin.

the shit can be pretty tough tho, got a few cuts and shit from the chrome,

some parts I actually had to take a razor blade to. should be worth it tho, hoping to get better bonding to the plastic.

It literally feels like im peelin an aluminum can off of the grill.

I say color match. If you match it to the fenders, IMO it would have that plastic black "cheap work truck" look.

    Good luck.

Technically this will be from the dealer, my uncle works in the body shop at a toyota distributor. So it will be the EXACT BSP formula and clear coat used, also I dont know if I can get a BSP grill from the dealer because tacomas are no longer made in BSP.
