Well, I just recieved a replacement DVR from DirecTv. I was wondering if there is a way to transfer all my recordings from the old DVR to the new one. I tried Google, but all that came up was DVR to PC, thumb drive, laptop etc. Not DVR to DVR.

    Is this possible?

From what I have found, It cant be done yet. If its a TiVo, then I have heard of a few folks doing it, but if its the RCA DVR, then your out of luck.....Mine died, and I lost about 30 shows :(

I think so. Haven't really looked into it.
Yeah, I just read something about swapping hard drives, but the thing is, I have to return the old one and I can't break that warranty seal or they'll charge me for the damn thing.

I was wondering if you could hook up an external hard drive to your old DVR , transfer the files to the external drive , and then hook it up to your new DVR

That sounds like it might work. I do have a terabyte external hard drive, wonder if that would work...

If its in HD it wont work. HDCP is a special code that HD material is coded in. it wont work unless you have something that can crack HDCP. Which has been rumored to have been done. But there is a reason there arent any HDMI recording devices out unless its a DVR from a cable company.
