i need a new vehicle to drive to and from work (81 miles a day 5-6 days a week totaling 405-486 + where ever i go around town) and my taco aint cuttin it (~17 mpg). im currently borrowing my dads 94 toyota 2wd pickup (22re ,5 speed, base model, adv. 22-26 mpg, 203,600 mi) i cant really decide what i want and id like for yall to tell me what would you go with and why. it HAS to be toyota or toyota made. ive narrowed down to what id like to have: 05-08 6-speed toyota x-runner, 01-04 toyota s-runner, 89-95 toyota 2wd pickup (like current dd but extended cap with lower miles and a decent body), 97-01 toyota camry (family has owned 3 {moms 250,000 , brothers 220,000 grandmas 110,000}), or a scion tc all preferably manual with cruise control.

i think the camry would be the best all around but come on....... i want a x runner:D

well as i was reading your post. I orginally was going to say get you a sports car, they are fun and will have better mpgs than what you are seeing, then you got to the options, and the runners are the closest thing to a sports car you listed ahha

    edit,

you also dont lose the utility of having a bed, for whatever reason you may randomly need it on your way home from work one day.

are you really gonna keep your foot out of the x runner? :D I would get a Camry and if finances permit keep your current 4x4 yota for a toy.

i never said anything about selling the taco or the trail rig (which is just sitting needing another motor and is being used as a parts truck)

My issue would be similar to my current one in regards to $. With the $ you're saving from fuel be used to modify the new vehicle? Or? Keep ur Taco, by an older Corolla so you won't b tempted to add aftermarket wheels/tires, stereo, etc.

i say either the toyota pickup or the tc. with an xrunner or s runner i feel like the mpgs would not be too much better than what you currently get. like someone else said its always nice to have a bed so i think your best bet would be the pick up...if you couldnt find one then a tc just because camrys are even more boring :D
