It was about $400 after a discount I got

Yeah, in retrospect I should have gone with another brand instead or just a muffler...wanted something louder (but not ricey). Only real reason why I went with TRD was because I kinda wanted to keep the "theme" of the truck TRD

It seems really smooth on the low end and pleasant sound. I did get on it at 50 mph and it really runs great with an awesome sound. I did see almost 3 mpg increase over the same trip with the stock set up. I did install the TRD CAI at the same time as the TRD Exhaust. Over all really pleased with the set up. As some one posted I want to keep the TRD theme with the installation. I purchased both items from Dallas Toyota for $390 each plus shipping. This is a GREAT write up! Much appreciated. I talked to a mechanic today that owns a 2012 and installed the TRD exhaust on his truck. I asked him for some tips and he said to jack up the truck by the frame (I would jack up the tow hitch) to let the leaf springs sag and give some more room between the axle and frame. He said it makes it a lot easier when you are working the new exhaust into place.

$400 for a shiny oval tip and a muffler? The piping looks to be identical to stock. If I ever mess with my exhaust I will just install an aftermarket muffler and skip the ricey tip.

I didn't pay anywhere near that for my exhaust and it was part of a package deal with the super charger. I like to keep things as OEM as possible, but would have loved to install duel exhaust. The mechanic that is installing my SC said he would install the exhaust at no cost when I get the SC installed. He is a former Toyota Tech (at the dealership) and has the same exhaust on his 2012 and loves it. It sounds great and NO drone. Mainly I want to maintain the factory warranty.

I'm sure it will sound and work great. I was very surprised that the stock piping is nearly identical to the TRD. Makes me want to order a muffler and keep all the exhaust piping to achieve the same end results as a TRD exhaust.

I think you are absolutely right. I am sure there are much better systems out there, I just jumped on the TRD because if the price. I would probably go with dual exhaust if I didn't get the TRD.

I installed the exhaust yesterday. It took about 30 minutes and the tip from 805Warrior to jack up the body to let the leaf springs sag and create a wider space to install remove the exhaust was a GREAT tip. I have a full size spare that is larger than the original, so it was a tight fit, but jacking up the truck made for enough room to remove/install. The other great tip was using a milk crate, etc. to hold up the end near the cat. It probably would have only taken 20 minutes, but one of the hangers was REALLY stubborn and no matter how much silicon spray I used, it just didn't want to come off.
Anyway, it is taken care of and thanks to everyone for the help!

What he said. I just installed my trd. Simple 30min. Project and knowing I did it myself is that much better. Very pleased with it.

Great write up, I've got that set up on my truck! Sounds great also! I like the oval tip on it, no where near 'ricey'.

I took my spare out for the install. Not to take it out the back (I went forward) but it makes so much more room under the back end to work in. I can almost sit cross legged under my truck with the spare out.

Also, dish soap works really well in place of the WD-40.

Curious, does any computer adjustments have to be made, as the exhaust apparently has more flow?

I am getting my TRD today, currently have a Magnaflow cat back installed and it's way way WAY too loud for me. The drone on the hwy is terrible unless you are feathering the throttle. I should of listened to my gut instinct and got the TRD to start with.

Love mine. Loud enough to know it's there when on the throttle, but not obnoxoius. At highway speeds (while cruising) I don't even hear it.

What a difference, I had the Magnaflow exhaust installed for two days and I couldn't do it. Too loud and too much drone. The TRD exhaust I am IN LOVE with. No drone. Excellent on the highway and it has more then enough "ummpppfffggghhhhh" for me. Love it.
