Lift kit wind resistance/drive-ability?

Yesterday I installed a 2 1/2" front spacer lift and 1 1/2" rear block lift on my 2006 Double cab. Had it aligned. It drives straight, but I feel like I'm being blown around on the freeway on a calm day! Is this a side effect of the lift kit?
I want to level out my truck and add 265/75 BFG AT tires, but really don't want to lose drive-ability. Any suggestions?
Would the Bilstein 5100 in the front only still have problems bucking the wind?

Sounds to me like its not driving straight. You need more caster to keep it from wandering on the highway. New UCA's will fix it.

 

Caster is set at -.01 and .03. I can hear more wind in the cab too. Maybe a slight vibration in the gas and brake pedal. I bought the lifetime alignment.

 

You caster is 0.01 and 0.03? Yeah, thats your problem. you need atleast 2 degrees caster to get rid of the wandering. You need to take it to another alignment shop and see how much caster they can give you, or upgrade to new UCA's.

The more caster you have the more bump steer you induce, so you won't want too much caster.

I have 3" of lift in the front with Light Racing UCA's. My alignment is 0 camber, 0 toe, and 2.5 caster and it drives awesome on the highway with a little bit of bump steer on bumpy streets.

Edit: just saw you got lifetime alignments. Take it back and see if they can improve the caster without losing too much camber

 

eek! ya, you need way more caster. at least above 2.0. new UCA will get you that.

I set an appt for noon today. Do you think I will even come close to the right specs without new UCA's?

I may end up taking the whole kit out and going to a more modest lift if this is going to be a big problem.

 

If you don't want to fork out coin for UCA's and you want the truck to drive perfect, then go with a smaller lift.

 

Ha now I'm upset that the lift kit manufacturer didn't specify I need more parts to align it correctly...I thought I was already going with a more modest option since most people seem to have the 3" lift.

 

Full 3" lift front & rear with stock UCAs. Drives great.

 

Don't get discouraged yet. See what your alignment shop can do first.

 

Just got back from the shop. They can't get it into the right specs. Current front specs are:
Left Camber 1.1 Caster 1.4 Toe .04
Right Camber .9 Caster 1.1 Toe .04

Plus the steering wheel is off now.
I think I'm going to ditch this lift spacer kit. I also realized I have driveline vibration from 30 to 40 mph. I can hear the wind howling against me. And it feels like the drivetrain is laboring more to move the truck. It revs up and kicks to a lower gear much more often. I'm going to dislike my truck.

Probably going to order the Bilstein 5100 front shocks tomorrow and use the .85 or 1.75 setting. I've heard good reviews.
