hes not being quoted msrp 31500 for the truck is not the greates deal but still a few grand off i believe arizona has some pretty high sales tax making it 35 otd. i bought my tx pro for 31 and change msrp was 34875 and got about 1500.00 worth of accesories free. even paying 31 for the truck my loan was still almost 35 with tax and title etc...

Bought my 11 around 29 otd in AZ (sport 4x4 all the good stuff). Invoice for this truck is in the 27-28 range out here. I'd wait if you wanted to snag an 11 around Nov-Dec when the 2012 really starts showing up on dealer lots. They will really have some sales to push the model year out.

    Since you are somewhat local
I bought at Earnhardt Toyota in Mesa. Awesome experience buying from them.

I just got mine, double cab same set up as you, only automatic. I paid $31k otd. That's the total amount financed, warranty (6yrs/75,000mi), everything...the invoice amount on them is $29,519 to the dealer. Add finance charges, 10% commission, and warranty, you get what I paid.

Quoted price is waaaay too high! Go to truecar.com and build your truck. It's an online broker-like site. You don't have to pay a fee!! Most dealers will honor a truecar quote, and even those dealers not on their preferred list will pay attention. I used truecar in November 2010 and purchased for two hundred under published dealer cost.

I sell new and used toyotas for a living, this guy has the best advice. IDK where these guys are getting new 4x4 DC offroads for 24-26k ish, but if there was that much mark up I would have bought a new one instead of the bad ass one I just got, plus if there was that much mark up, they wouldnt hold their value that much, not much beats a tacoma for resale, there is a reason, there is dick for mark up, and they are the best truck out there in its class! Now I'm sure my dealer was still making a little money, but the truck I was going to buy new listed for almost 34k. My price (which was around invoice) was 31500 plus taxes, There is also hold back, but that pays for the interest for the loan the dealer pays while the truck sits on the lot, and profit for the dealer, so I dont get any of that.

Hope that helps, good luck, if you want to buy one from me, let me know, I would love to help you out, ( I can run a locate and find you what you want or order a new one??) maybe we could work something out and go wheeling out there!! I'm only a "few" hrs away

Best bet is to email the Internet sales of a couple different dealerships and let them know that you are shopping around, let them know exactly want you want, the other dealers you are looking at, and ask what the best price they can give you.

The Internet sales people can get you the best deal.

These are not my words, this is advise from one of my best friends who used to sell cars.

The original quote, and the quote on the 2012 are way too high. You are getting raped.

Overstock.com has saved me thousands on my past three cars. You build the truck you want, add the options, click continue, enter your information (name, e-mail address) and you are then presented with a price guarantee (for the price you see in the upper-left). You can take that price guarantee to any of the three dealerships they list for you (they will have a list of three dealerships that will honor the price on the guarantee itself). Be sure to bid them against each other regardless of what deal you get at the first one.

Here is a screenshot of the truck you want (2011) priced out using a San Diego zip code (92101 - statistically high prices). I didn't see any additional options listed so I just did a 4WD DCSB TRD Off-Road in silver.

Do not pay more than $28,800 for the truck itself. You can always negotiate them out of the dealer fee. You will know you have no more room to negotiate when they flat out tell you they don't want to do business with you. Then just back off the last thing you asked for and sign the papers.

Tell them you will sign the papers for $28,800 vehicle price and you will only pay tax and tags on top of that. The other bullshit fees they charge are just that, bullshit.

I used to sell cars for Toyota, and I sucked at it. Why? Because I never charged the damn fees. The only fees the dealerships cannot do much with are tag and tax fees. Sometimes they will run specials offering "Sales Tax Paid!" but all that means is they are going to sell you the truck for a higher price to offset the taxes.

It will be much harder to get a good deal on the 2012's. With that being said, the $35,485 OTD price is ridiculous. If you want help with a 2012, let me know and I will look up some prices.

If I were you, I'd stick with the 2011's - you will be able to get a much better deal.

This is all just from my experience, I do not claim to be a master negotiator; but I am a smart car buyer.

Off topic, and I don't expect many to respond, but do the ones that say the 6-speed sucks, know how to drive a manual trans?

Why even post it if you realize it's pointless?

Do they know how to physically drive one? Obviously. Are they Mario Andretti? No. Are you Mario Andretti? Doubtful. :p

Just for shits and giggles I did some Googleing and found www.canadianblackbook.com

I think I priced out the same truck as above (although with the TRD Sport package, since that's all you can get) and the MSRP was $38,775. Double !
