I was taking a gander at the new 2012 Tacoma pics, and it seems that the hood, front quarter panels are the same. It looks to me like anyone who either disliked the front clip, or wanted to swap their older taco front for the newer style could do so with ease!

From that photo, I could easily see the front bumper, headlights and grill being removed and everything else being the same as the previous year Tacomas.

    Anyone agree?

On another note I don't think I'm a fan of the holes inboard of the headlights. Wierd. Can anyone say ram air maybe? :D

I think I remember reading that the hood is slightly changed, to match the new lines of the grille. but dont quote me there. ill peek around some more

The hood and the front fenders where they meet the grille/headlights look different to me.. I think someone will do it, it is just a matter of time.

Well maybe add the hood to the list of items that need to be changed, but i HIGHLY doubt the quarter panels are different. I can see the radiator through the grill, and the chassis underneath, nothing looks different there. I also find it funny that the lower valence is 'darked out' for lack of better terms. You know Toyota gets ALL their ideas from our forums!

It's been done (supposedly), the Toyota Stock Mini Baja Truck that mike posted is supposedly a 07' with the 2012 front end.

yep its most likely the same way 1gens went. Only few external parts changed. People swapped fronts on 1gens too. So anybody can find a front on junkyard and probably swap the bumper, lights, hood, grill

I wonder what kind of work swapping the internals ('11 stereo area for a '12 entune display) would be. Do you think they would redesign all of the wire harnesses?

I highly doubt they changed any of the internals there, unless they needed something new on wiring for entune. They more than likely just changed the "face" of the molds, and all the bolt locations and unvisable parts stayed the same.

I was thinking of waiting to find a wrecked '12 and trying to swap in the entune center console. If the connectors are the same, hopefully it should be plug and play?

One would hope the system is completely component based. Speakers and amplifiers don't change much, and toyota stereo wiring hasn't changed that much at all in t he past decade.
