Don't worry, it's probably just the Baja edition. If you get the sport there probably wont be any change. If you want a more expensive offroad with smoked beadlocks and a 2" suspention lift than wait a little longer. Regardless they are all awesome. i'll try not to bash it if I get jealouse, but my sport is coming soon!

They changed the gauge colors in the 11 to white and I have not been in a 12 but thinking they are probably the same. Not hard on the eyes at all.

Went and looked at them side by side same color this weekend.

As is, the 2011 hands down. The gal that was with me when asked didn't even hesitate. She IMMEDIATELY said the one on the left as if that's what she was thinking right then, didn't look at them objectively like I was. Then she started complimenting it quite a bit.

We had an awkward moment :tumbleweed:, then she said she liked mine most of all. It was all LOL though. Looks as though I have a few appearance mods in my future. I feel fortunate to have a cool upgrade roadmap.

Asked the cop when he pulled up wondering what we were doing, and he said the 2011.

These are two unbiased candid opinions of people who aren't on TW or even own a Toyota. The 2011 gives the best first impression.

IMHO as is this is completely correct. You paint the grill and black bottom fascia part the same color though and even artistic chick thinks that 2012 is a strong contender or might even win then. Someone getting a 2012 should do this and post pics. Toyota has probably already done this and is holding it back as a 2013 update.

If there's a parts list to trade out the fronts, I'd probably do it after I got it painted. I have a feeling that would be pretty expensive though and I should just make my existing look like the 2011. Put the rest of the budget in more clear cut upgrades.

I like the steering wheel of the 2012 and rear seats in the Access Cab though. Not enough to trade mine in though.

Either way it's a Tacoma. It's an awesome truck, and women dig it. If I went to a lot to buy one and all they had were 2012's, I'd probably get a 2012. Paint the front, enjoy the cool steering wheel.

The '12 doesn't look much different - i was expecting more than just the front-end - maybe they realized that they messed up the 4runner and didn't want to do the same to the truck.

im talking about all the interior lighting though. I like the 2011.5 gauges. but the red lighting everywhere else took its toll on me. couldnt stand it after a while. hurt my eyes.

Oh yeah, and what about the drivetrain? the 4runner's 4L is bumped up to 270hp - the Tacoma's stays at 236? what's up with that?

The 2012's look like bulldogs imo. Kinda fugly. I'll wait til I see one built up before I judge.

So are the 2012's considered 3rd gen or are they just 2nd gens with a facelift?

The red hurt your eyes? Red should be the easiest color on the eyes.

For 2012 they finally matched the other lighting with the gauge lights.Much more pleasant to look at now.I always hated those orange lights on pre 2012s. I agree with Stormtrooper that a V8 would be nice and a V6 in the reg cabs.

It was such a relief to get into the 2012 after driving the 2011. Even my girl thought the same.

When the 05 came out, I thought it was one of the ugliest turcks out there! lol. I've since grown to like it a little more, but I think the best looking tacomas are 01-04.

+1 Doesn't make sense that they changed the gauges halfway through 2011 and left the rest orange. The new white gauges and white backlit clock, etc. look much better than the orange for sure.
