Is this what society has come to?

So this last week I had a terrible dealership experience just like many others on here and everywhere else. So i thought about posting a poll on here to see what others thought i should do. I decided not to because lack of time to get on and check it. So the next day i went back to the dealership to confront them about their less than satisfactory service. After everything is said and done they fixed their screw up and took responsibility for it. Since then and during this weekend i have seen several posts on here where people are asking for advice on what to do in similiar situations and multiple people tell them to "just let it go" or "its no big deal". So is that what people have come to exept a less than perfect service? Do we not care about services that are being provided wether paid for directly or not? I believe that if someone has a job to do they should do that job and if you dont bring discrepancies to their attention then those discrepancies could keep getting performed for other people as well.

 

I hear ya! Fox Toyota of Auburn, NY renigged on a verbal I had with them to replace my tounge & ball off of my Tundra I traded in. They wanted my truck so fast I coulnt unlock the SS tounge & ball, they offered to cut it off, then they lost it. I bought a new one, cheaper version to suite my new Taco, & sent them reciept, they said tough luck, I took too long... Damn, I only work 2 jobs & they are an hour away! I think I will notify the dealership owner & cc Toyota Corp.

 

Agree, you'd think with the current economical situation business would put forth a little more effort in the customer service dept. Truth is the guy making $6-7 an hour could careless about reputation of the company. It goes back to everyone feeling entitled for everything, it kinda kills the whole taking initiative and going that extra mile for the sale.

 

Those surveys or emails you get from toyota are important to the individual dealerships. It might be hard to prove a verbal deal but its worth a try. Since i still have the free toyota care I will be returning to the dealer for the free oil changes i am just going to mark my filters and drain plug with torque stripe.

 

It might be this town that i am in but its not only dealers that are jacking up vehicles. Three weeks ago i had tires mounted and balanced on my wifes car and they sent it out with four bombs attached to it. After she got home she told me her tpms light was still on. So i checked tire pressure and two of the tires were over 60 psi and the other two were at 54psi... on a mazda 3. Then i just got a call from a guy i work with that got two new tires for his f350 dually and after he left his truck started pulling to the left when before hand it was pulling to the right(due to two different tires being installed before he bought it) so he checks his pressure and the right is at 82psi and the left is at 50psi. After he evend them out his truck drives straight as an arrow. What happend to attention to detail?

 

The reason I usually (shrug it off) Let it go or whatever. Is because I have a reactionary attitude = me blowing up and threating to punch them in the throat = JAIL. So I tend to just let it go and figure spending double to get it fixed is cheaper than court. But its also why I spend alot of time searching threads when I have a problem so I can fix it my self. Even though I hate working on cars. Yeah man it like no body gives a shit anymore I hate it. I'd rather be told to fuck off before they touch the truck so I can take it somewhere else the 1st time.

 

I think the other prob is i herd that most shops have layed off there best/ most expirenced mech. Because they make more money so they got a bunch of tards running around.

 

I hear you with the going high and to the right on people! I do it everyday at work its hard to switch to civilian mode sometimes lol. I am trying this self control thing because i am about to get out(well a little less than 18 months) and apparently you cant go running around screaming at people and expecting results like you can when your in. I have learned that making your point/making people feel stupid without yelling is a much more valuable tool then yelling itself.

 

LOL Ohh I just noticed your a Marine. Idk if its all that good or effective to yell at your fellow members ether. But as far as getting your truck worked on by civies try this i've done it before. Act bothered for a couple mins looked all around then lean ove the counter rub your face and say you cant handle all this stress you just got home from a deployment etc. You don't have time to deal w it. One thing about the Military is and I know you've herd it (attention to detail) kind of turns us OCD the civies think they can sneak stuff by us but we notice.

 

Or, go back to the dealer in your dress blues and all of your medals. they'd have to be douches not to help you out then.

 

That's the reason I hear from so many businesses these days on why they screwed something up, or come up short of decent service. It's sickening.

 

Well after 7.5 years i am starting to learn that you have to handle every situation differently. For example their used to be a time where everyone got yelled at and fear was instilled not to do what ever it was that got you yelled at again. Now a days so many kids grow up playing video games yelling doesnt do much for them so in order to be effective you have to learn what it takes to get each individual to do what you want or need. And as for OCD and attention to detail i would say thats the same thing and if everyone had it this thread wouldnt exist.
