Find out who it was and dump the ashes on their front step, then tell them next time the ashes will be your cremation ashes

I would vote for a fourth option, rake in the ashes and water them a bit they will be gone in minutes and are good for the grass. Review the camera footage, if it’s not someone from the neighbor hood let it go chalk it up to the morons of the world swimming in the shallow end of the gene pool. If it is from the neighbor you have two options one just file it away till the day they might need a hand from you and politely tell them your busy, hell if its in the next day or so tell them you would love to but pulled a back muscle racking up the ashes some idiot dumped in my yard. Option two find something that went with the unit even if its a grill brush and casually go over and hand it to them saying; “Hey saw you picked up my old grill glad you did I wasn't sure the trash men would take it thought you might want this to go with it." Then smile and walk away they know their busted and are embarrassed you get to walk away and chuckle with out getting on their level of stupidity. Just my opinion :} though I am glad to hear I am not the only one with a/v monitoring of my property.
