It's not only him. It's the entire state legislature...and the folks in the state who did not speak up or agree with the policy.

Can't reduce it so basely to 1 person being "responsible" in reality. Yes...He is "the" guy...but there were many many more people involved with the process.

 

Yes, I agree it is the entire state legislature. What is interesting is that the SB610 for ccw... if you follow the link. The legislators knew that gun rights were getting bad. They tried to throw in a loophole that gave automatic CCW approval for any legislator. That piece was pulled out of the bill.

Personally I think the open carry billl helped the eventual CCW changes needed here in CA.

 

good news for criminals

 

There is a good side to what happened. The bill to standardize CCW permit rules was passed. They are now required to deny good cause before you are required to pay any fees. meaning you dont have to spend your money before you can find out they wont let you have it. They also can no longer require you to carry liability insurance. This does not remove good cause, but there are court cases that are establishing legal precedence that under the second amendment they must accept self defense as good cause. So, not all is doom and gloom, but as of now, until cali becomes a shall issue state or the open carry ban is overturned Californians have been stripped of their second amendment rights.
