So I'm going to build a secondary fuse box for my winch and future lights (HID's, rock lights, bright rear lights ETC)...

Where is a good place to buy such a fuse box? I've found a couple online for WAY MORE money then I was planning to spend. Any idea of where I could find one here in Portland? Also where is a good place to get higher quality stuff like wire, terminal lugs, heat shrink ETC other then Radio Shack?

I can only think of painless wiring kit's.

As far as wiring etc. what about Lowes or Home Depot? Or any stereo shops should have a good selection

Lowes tends to have a better selection of auto stuff.
I think you could try Grainger, Platt, Eoff for electrical stuff. NAPA has some good stuff too, better than autozone/oriely/etc for selection.

The only fuse box I see guys using is the bluesea stuff

    Thanks Mike,

The bluesea fuse boxes was what I'm looking for and much more within my price range. I found a couple Marine supply stores in Tigard that stock them! I'll check out Grainger tomorrow for the rest.

...Going to be my first Grainger visit without a Government Visa in hand :pout:

So in my winch packet it says that the motor can pull up to 410AMP's at 8000LBS??? That can't be right. Hell the alternator is only rated for 135AMP's? Even at no load it says the motor current is "70" amps? What am I missing?

Also I can't find anywhere on my Toyota "true start" battery how many cold cranking amps it has?

I thought long and hard about getting those rims! I believe they are v tec brand. In the end I've decided to go with powder coated stocks.

    They looked sweet though, right?!

I'm not claiming expertise, just trying to do some basic fact guesswork:

You forgot about the CCA of the battery, which can be 800+

What I'm thinking they mean by no load is simply spooling in/out cable.

Yeah, winches really suck the juice. That's why some folks will have a device to raise the engine revs up while winching, or use a hand throttle. You can usually watch the headlights dim while idling and winching.

I'm not sure what makes it do this, but when I bump the winch control, the 4 ga wires that go to my winch will actually flex a bit.

Well I wanted to put in an inline fuse but I think I would be better with a hard switch to just turn it completely off until needed. The winch says I only need 650 CCA for my battery... I might get a yellow top soon though to help compensate. (I don't trust the toyota battery) And yes at no load just spooling out the cable its 70AMPS!
