x2. With the time and money involved getting and installing a locker. ARB is by far the best choice.

Used to have ARBs on my Jeep, thing's worked flawlessly

You might as well find a way to swap yours out for a TRD Off Road diff, but I'm not sure how hard it is

Ya that seems like a lot more work for the same result... :/ Im just confused about how you get the compressed air into the dif, and while its locked do you have to retain the air in the dif?

My question for you, is what're you planning on doing with your Pre-Runner that you'd need a locker?

Ditto. I'm slowly working on the process of getting a 60+ an hour job... in which case I can promise you I'm gonna straight axle mine.

Since your truck is still relatively stock, I'd really consider trading it in for a 4x4 before investing in a locker.

Looks like these lockers are only about $1,000 or less (w/ compressor). Not bad.

My last Tacoma was a 2001 TRD w/ e-locker. I'm now buying another and have decided I NEED the 2nd Gen DCLB which to my knowledge does not come in the off-road package for any year (therefore no OEM rear locking diff is available for this truck).

So I'm exploring my options as I really don't want a truck that does not have at least a rear locking diff. Looks like a pretty easy solution here. At this price I might get the front locker too....dang...have not bought the truck yet and I'm already doing mods!

    Am I missnig something?

If you can install them yourself then that will save you a ton of coin.

A grand does not go that far out here in SF...so I had braced myself for a bigger hit. Still a lot of money, but potentially worth it.

Needing to pay someone a ton of coin to install would be a deal breaker for me. I'm a DIY'er.

I searched this forum but didn't find any HOW TO write ups. Know of any? I believe the Sierra site had mentioned only regular/basic tools were required. I'm guessing dealing with the compressor ads a bit of PITA to the process.
