My kid's science teacher was absent yesterday and they were forced to watch a video about evolution.........of which I was forced to pay for.

It's comical to me how people can come here VOLUNTARILY, and complain about being force fed religion, yet those that are religious, don't complain of the force feeding of anti-religion and evolution.

Personally, it doesn't worry me about my kids. It's the children that aren't given the opportunity to decide on their own and only have the influence of school, that makes me sad.

We had a long talk, as we've done many times before, and I always expect them to do their own research, studying, and learning when it comes to religion, creation, and evolution.

My son said to me, "dad, all those different skulls and creatures they say were apes to man, were only just different species of an ape. Not humans."

He's done more studying and is more educated than most adults I know that are against religion and creation without solid reasoning. I have given them the resources from both sides to allow them to decide.

    I think I'm in rare form today.:stirthepot:

I noticed you complained and then said you don't complain?

You are not forced to send your kid to that school are you?

Your kid didn't listen well, or he'd understand those skulls where neither human nor ape.

Your religion thinks it has answered the question of a creator, science will continue to come up with the best explanation through evidence.

Could it be because evolution is based off science while creationism is based off...nothing but fairytales? If they taught creationism as it stands for christians they'd have to teach all the other religious aspects to it as well...and I think we all know there isn't enough time in a science class for that.

My point is, don't come to a religion thread and complain it is forced down your throat. Does not compute.

I'm not worried about the influence on my kids. And yes, I have no other choice but to pay property taxes which pay for this to happen in public schools.

    Neither human nor ape? Strange.

And I'll say again as I've said many times, science continually proves creation as possible, more so than evolution, which continually changes and cancels discoveries as truth.

Evolution has never been witnessed or recreated, therefore it is a theory, we have already come to that conclusion in this thread several times. I believe it has been said creation is a theory too. Well then, why not teach both?

Evolution evidence.:bored:......it changes all the time.

WW, glad to see you brought your stir pot too.;):D
fairytales? you need to study creationism and the Bible more.

creationism/earth's age is based off science. Don't take the so called, 'experts' word, study and investigate for yourself if it is important to you.

And evolution is only as cut and dry as they feel like portraying to all the sheeple that just listen and accept whatever they say as fact. If it changes or is disproven, well that's ok, I'm sure the other stuff they say is true.

Negative, I will do no such thing. Waste of my time. To say evolution doesn't happen is simply naive. Stop trolling in this thread just to gloat about why you're right and everyone else is wrong.

Who did that?, are you really talking about that funny Penis/Religion comparison?

Evidence enough that you haven't really investigated evolution enough to understand some of the basics. Enough with the BS that you've given it a thorough study.

Ultimately there is no new science that creation is possible, please support this. Even if it could be proven that a jesus existed or some other account from the bible happened, the creation story isn't any stronger.

You mistakenly characterize evolution as somehow changing, instead of the reality that it is refined as additional information is discovered.

Creationism should be taught in a theology class, not in a science class. Science tries to discover the truth, creationism is holding onto dogma.

Creation science boils down to "evolution hasn't shown how this happened, so it must be a creator". That's not science.

It's funny how many people come to the "What's your religion" thread and give the answer to that question as atheist. This "funny" has been posted in this thread numerous times but I think most times it is posted without thought. The only religion I see being forced down anyones throat in America these days IS atheism. I wish people would just start calling it what it is......a religion. Then maybe we could get this religion out of our public schools as well. When I send my children to school, the last thing I need is a teacher telling them that what I've told them is truth, is actually a lie. If you're an atheist, that's fine, in fact it's none of my business, but don't make it the business of a child in school. No religion in school is fine by me but it should be ALL religion.......even atheism. When a child is taught by their parents that God created the heavens and the earth, they shouldn't go to school and be told that that is wrong. Either give all viewpoints or none at all, what's not fair about that? Creationism nor the big bang can be proven beyond all doubt so.........prove to us that the big bang (or some other thing) is in fact the way it all began. My point is that just because God cannot be proven to you does not mean that he does not exist.

so by your logic, if you were to teach your child that the most abundant state of matter in the universe is gas, the school (who's purpose is to educate your child) is not supposed to inform your child that the most abundant state of matter is actually plasma?

What? I would expect the school to teach what is proven by science. "Proven" being the key word. I'm not sure how you drew that conclusion from my post but whatever......

I'm just going to throw this out there to :stirthepot:

I've never had an atheist or agnostic come to my house and try to sell their beliefs to me. Or try to "save" me during normal conversation every chance they get.

I don't carry a book of atheistic views with me to read to whomever will listen, and I've never seen anyone else do that. Or hand out similar books in stores or on the street to people walking by.

To me, *THAT* is the point of that picture.

you said "When I send my children to school, the last thing I need is a teacher telling them that what I've told them is truth, is actually a lie.", which is basically saying "my word is gold and should not be disputed".

science has proven that the universe is over 13 billion years old which conflicts and disproves creationists belief that the world is 6000 to 10000 years old.

    absolutely 100% true.

Nobody has to do that. Just turn on the discovery channel or listen to what kids are taught in school. Don't you worry, the job is being done for you. You may not be knocking on doors but the atheist message is being spouted far and wide.

My word is gold for my children and it is not your job or any teachers job to dispute my beliefs with my children.

Now that is funny when you put it like that. But seriously, when is the last time that you saw them give an alternate viewpoint. All I'm saying is that conclusions drawn from science change regularly. 30 years ago they proved we were headed for an ice age, now they prove it's actually getting hotter. They proved that the expansion of the universe was slowing down, now they say it is expanding and expanding faster than they would think. That proved that light was the fastest particle, now they've found one that is faster. Don't get me wrong, I love science , there are some incredible wonders in this universe and I love hearing about new discoveries, but in the end, I believe that God created it for us to be amazed.

Please explain how "atheism" is being forced down your throat. Evolution isn't atheism. Evolution is the theory that life has evolved through genetic mutation which gives certain species a better ability to adapt to ever changing conditions. That's not atheism. And before you go and reply that evolution is just a theory, look up the definition of theory. Evolution is a "theory" the same way that gravity is a "theory"

the·o·ry - the analysis of a set of facts in their relation to one another.

A coherent group of tested general propositions, commonly regarded as correct, that can be used as principles of explanation and prediction for a class of phenomena.

What teacher has ever told your kids that your specific religion is incorrect? If that happened, which I doubt, then I disagree with that teacher too. A public school teacher should never put themselves in a position to agree or disagree with any religious belief of their students. Teaching evolution is NOT the same as a teacher saying to your kid that god doesn't exist or that what you've taught them is wrong. They're simply teaching the idea that has the most scientific evidence to support it. That's not atheism. Atheism is a religion in the same way that bald is a hair color.
