Would a lower wattage bulb not work? They are not intended to light your path. Just make you seen... may check into that.

For a less-severe case than the front page picture, I'll take a picture of ours once my husband brings it home tonight.

So, is the general consensus that all Toyota dealerships will replace the lenses, no questions asked? 'Cause if so, I am there.

Where do you find the LED version of the bulb?

That's right you need to buy resistors to wire in with your turn signals to trick the OEM flasher.

Toyoyta told me they would not replace the headlights under warranty a second time if the lenses melt again:brianr:!!

DRL mod with switch, rear spring TSB, trans TSB, tailgate mod, snug-top shell.
I added DRLs and then placed a factory style switch in the circuit. I can turn them off or on.

Link to my post on DRL mod thread above...

and a link below to a cooler (lower wattage) bulb below...I believe the 5702 bulbs are available at auto parts stores.
I haven't seen any burning of my lenses yet and I do leave them on all the time.

A guy I work with told he had to repalce his because it melted the lens. At the time several months ago I checked mine and they looked ok. I went outside and checked tonight and both sides are starting to melt. And I have not put higher amp bulbs or changed anything on my lights, so the "experts" are not always right. I do run the headlights more than not run them. My truck is an 09 and has 21000 miles on it. Most of my drive is to and from work which is 4 miles. It is always dark one way or the other. So the headlights stay on most of the time.

Hmm, i think is is interesting that the 2012 model headlights are mentioned in this thread.....they are a different housing, how does anyone know that this design will be affected?
