    You mean Exhaust Manifold?

Stock = exhaust manifold (in most cases)
Header= tubular exhaust, either short or long tube.

I think if you had a cracked exhaust manifold, you would have black exhaust marks on wherever it is cracked.

Was putting the 4Runner back together. Replaced the fan clutch, some leaking vacuum hoses, and finished removing some the plastic crap that got ripped off at Bridgeport the other weekend.

Tomorrow I'm going to finish trimming the metal supports out and crank up the torsion bars a little.

Do leaking vaccum hoses make a noise at all?

Depends on the amount of vacuum. Some of your larger vacuum hoses will make a slight sucking sound when leaking. Usually you will find them by either flexing the hose and seeing the cracks; or spraying the hose with WD-40 and listening for the motor to change.

Does your whistle follow the engine RPM? Can you locate the side/area of your motor it is coming from? Have you cleared and checked your air filter and intake patch all the way out to the fender? A breathing restriction will whistle and follow RPM.

Yes it does follow RPM. Higher pitch the more gas you give it. Ill double check the air intake

Just dropped the skud plate and had a listen. It is comming from the belt im pretty sure. Wtf do you call the things it spins on? The pulleys? I think those might need lubricating. I think...

Sounds like a pulley bearing then. Depending on which one it is it could be $$ or $$$.

had a jeep before my tacoma and submerged the motor a couple times but did it once in very sandy water and ended up with the same sound you are describing. I tried to oil the pulleys but it didn't help so i just drove with it and one day it stopped.
