Haha it pretty much did. I was driving down a back road about 20mph, when all the sudden I heard a loud "pow" sound, then a sound as if the tire was all the way up into the fender. I slammed on my brakes and when I did that the wheel and tire came off and launched my truck up into the air. As far as I can tell, what broke first was the tie rod, then either the upper or lower ball joint broke causing my tire to go up into my fender. Once that happened the other ball joint broke and ripped out the whole hub and left cv axle. And when I landed it bent the frame somewhere causing the steering rack to get all out of line. So right now a guy is straightening out the frame and putting in a new steering rack, cv axle, ball joints, and brake lines while it's there. Nobody else around here would touch it, because they didn't want to be held liable. But my dad somehow talked this older guy that owns a body shop into doing everything for us, even though he could be sued by us if something were to go wrong down the road. Which we wouldn't.

Couldn't agree with this more. I am glad you posted this Vacountry. A parent knows whether or not their kid has earned this type of gift. They know if their kids understand the value of hard work, value of money, appreciation and respect for others, desire to do well in school, not be lazy, not be disrespectful etc. I plan on doing this for my kids in a few years if they have earned it. If they have they have to keep earning it.

Completely agree with this. I'm one of the only people at my school that has a vehicle that yes, was bought by my parents, but all the responsibilities of owning and modding it are on me only. I hate it when other people at my school go around saying they payed for their own vehicle. Yet they haven't had a single job in their life? Just admit to the fact that your parents made you a bank account that they and your grandparents put money into, this kind of thing pisses me off more than the people that brag about their expensive vehicles on 6 inch block lifts payed for by their parents! :D haha

At my school there are lots of kids that drive nice cars 99% of those cars were payed for by parents and the kids brag about there car being so cool. One of my best friends drives the same truck as I do he is a hard worker plays sports and helped in bilding of his house his dad bought him the truck I think that's dam cool. But the kids I'm talking about are the kids that skip class, drink and smoke and just have everything handed to them. those are the kids I can't stand. I just like the feeling of driving something I have worked hard to pay for. my .02$
And I don't go around saying I payed for my truck.

Who actually paid for there truck with money they got from actually working? and who actually pays the insurance and gas for the thing? I'm 17, got the taco when I was 16 and half. paid 5,600 of my own sweet and tears to it and I pay over 220$ a month in insurance and pay all my own gas. Parents want me to be responsible and dont want to yell at me for shit so its all me. I have learned a lot. heres me and the truck,

+1 to you for not being that kid who works 10 hours a week one summer for his dad and gets a $15,000 truck and says "oh ya, i paid for everything myself"

haha that's awesome! i literally missed the truck the first time i scrolled through the picture it blended in with the hill so well

im sure everyone would LOVE it if their parents just handed them a new truck...but that's not the way it works in the real world. The only real problem i have with kids just getting handed expensive vehicles is that they have no concept of finance or value of money. The 17 year old who makes $8.00 an hour and saved his/her pennies for 3 years to buy their vehicle will know exactly what is at stake every time they decide to drive it, and what it actually takes to own and operate something so seemingly simple as a car/truck.

When I turned 16, my dad bought a "farm truck". It was a 2WD 73 Chevy Cheyenne with a built 350 and a Holley 750cc 4-barrel. He paid $425 for the truck. It had cancer and it was hard to hold a conversation inside the cab running 60 or better down the road due to air coming in around the door sills. So in a way, yeah he bought it for me, but it wasn't like driving around in a nice car or truck. Of course what did I care...it outran just about everything on the road.

Now as a dad my self, it is funny listening to my 10 and 7 year old sons talk about what kind of vehicle they will get when they turn 16. They are both into muscle cars, old and new. My 10 year old has asked me if he'll get to drive my Taco. I keep telling him I hope so.
