I have 4.3. Hopefully I'll get the new one today. Is 5.0 available for a 3GS? And did I miss an update between 4.3 and 5? I haven't updated it in a while. Lol

 

The latest version of iOS 4 for the iPhone is 4.3.5.

wtf, ok so can i not download itunes without downloading the software updates for my computer?..... something doesnt seem right

 

That was an update for Mac OSX and/or iTunes to work with iOS 5. iOS updates only download through iTunes, not software update.

 

Are you on a PC or a Mac? If you're on a Mac, you can just check/uncheck what you want to download as far as Mac OS/software updates go. iOS is updated through iTunes only.

I always get all OS updates before updating individual software anyway. I'm a bit retentive when it comes to that stuff, though.

Your iTunes has to be updated to download iOS 5. Mac OSX does not, you only need that for iCloud features.

 

Well when it checks for new software it only says osx update.... it says nothing about itunes

 

This is what you would need to do if you just wanted to go ahead and get iOS and not worry about the other updates.

Part of my job is mitigating security risks...I update everything the minute the update comes out. Habit, I guess.

i have 10.5 beta 7....

when i click download itunes, it says "checking for new software", then nothing comes up about itunes.... when i go to itunes and press check for updates, it says your itunes is up to date. BUT it wont let me download ios 5 though

 

Try rebooting. Something doesn't sound right.

i downloaded itunes 10.5 from apples website, im going to install it and see what that does....if not im going to reboot

 

ok i replaced the beta version of itunes with the real version and that worked. im downloading ios 5
