Nope unless he swapped one in.

Could you special order a 4 door w/ a manual from toyota?

IIRC, my dad was in the market for a taco years ago, and wanted a 4 door V6 but in a manual and was told at the dealership that the only way to get that combo was to order it special from toyota. But that option was big $$$.

There is a story floating around here about a guy who special ordered one from Toyota. I have not seen the truck (the whole unicorn thing I guess). It's one of those "my buddy says he knows a guy who has one" kind of things. Supposedly he had to ask several times to get the dealer to make the phone call and order the truck. They told him they couldn't get it done and he kept pushing and saying he did not care what it cost.

    Auto.
Has anyone e-mailed the guy? As far as the "unicorn" thing, I don't buy any of it. I have bugged Toyota about it about 10 times, and each time they said they have never "special made" a vehicle.

By "here" I meant the town I live in and my circle of friends. One of my good buddies that I have known for 20 years has talked to the guy who supposedly has this truck. My buddy would not lie to me, but he hasn't actually seen the truck either. I will tell him to take a picture in the event that he actually does get a chance to see it.

It may not have been him, but it was probably swapped. There are quite a few swapped manual Dbl Cabs out there.

as far as the 1st gen dc manual, ive also heard of the "unicorn" but the swap to manual seems like it would match flawlessly.. no?

Nope, the auto is electronically controlled, manual is not. Also, I believe the tranny won't fit on the double cab due to long wheelbase.
The only manual dub-cab I've ever seen was actually made the other way around, took a manual transmission truck, an srunner actually, and turned it into a double cab. It's Enola's from CT.
