Will I need spacers on a 17x8 wheel with a 4.5" backspace?

OK, so I ordered a set of 17x8 Pro Comp Series 52 wheels with a 4.5" backspace, I have heard from a couple different people that these will fit my 2006 DC TRD Sport but just wanted to confirm, is anyone running these wheels if so will I need spacers?

 

what size tires do you plan to use? 31-32" or less, you should be fine without spacers.

 

Going to get 265/70 17, so no nothing bigger than about 31.5, just was wondering about running into any brake caliper rubbing issues.

Well just put one on to see and they rub in the front, spacers it is.

 

hmmm... where and how much rubbing is there? pics?

 

I just put the wheel on the front to see and there was some slight rubbing on the caliper, I ordered some Spidertrax spacers just to be on the safe side, plus it will give me a slightly more aggressive stance.

 

Man! Even the 17s didn't clear the caliper. Wow.

 

thats weird im running 16 and i didn't have any rubbing issues 16x8 konig countersteers

 

Yeah they seemed to rub slightly when I popped one of the wheels on tonight before I decided to get tires mounted and balanced. Figured I'd err on the side of caution and get some spacers.

Plus like I said I will have a slightly more aggressive stance which I was looking for. Looking to get some 265/70 17 Firestone Destination ATs to go on these wheels.

 

Caliper clearance is more about wheel shape than any measurement, though 17s tend to be less likely to hit than 16s.

 

i didn't bother looking at which model the pro comps were, but now seeing that they're the steel wheels, it makes sense. the only steel wheels that i've seen so far that clears the tacoma's calipers are wheeler's steelies.
