4.0 v6 hp difference?

What is the difference between a 4.0L engine in the Tacoma and in the Tundra? One is rated at 236hp @5200rpm while the other is rated at 270hp @5600rpm. Mechanically what are the differences? Do they use the same spark plugs, oil and filter etc?

At 2000 rpm where most of you run with a V6 I bet they are making close to the same HP.

 

Is the element type oil filter on top of the engine where spin on has been or is down where the v-8 Tundras oil filters are? I sure like them up on the top.

 

I can tell you from owning both, the 4.0 has a lot more power. Towing a 3,500lb boat was where I can tell the biggest difference. Both good engines for sure, but I like the 4.0 better (assuming it turns out to be as bullet proof as the 3.4).

 

I read this somewhere and it seems reasonable'ish:

Drivetrain loss vs. drivertrain type

10% loss for transaxle type cars
(i.e. FWD type cars where engine and transaxle are basically 1 unit.)

15% loss for front engine rear drive type cars/trucks.
(like our Tacomas)

20% loss on AWD cars or vehicles in 4WD mode.
(like subaru AWD cars and such)

Not sure if that helps at all as there are a million other factors but it has seemed to get me close for the most part when we build a motor and then go dyno it.
