im getting ready to sas my 2000 taco an came across the sas kit at frontier4x4.com. i was wondering if anyone has used this kit or one like it. i was initially planning on just having a fabrication shop do the work ( my shortage right now is time over money ) but this looks so easy that i would have the time to do it myself. and the price is pretty hard to beat. any experience with the kit or even the manufacturer would be a great help, thanks! ps. im looking at kit C as it has everything.

go to ttora, search first because they like to freak out about that, then if you don't find anything post a thread there.

I personally would just let the shop do it if you aren't an excellent fabricator and have a lot of time.

EASY?????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????? I seriously fell out of my chair.

Btw frontier has like 5% cheaper prices than TG. So if you do order it, which you won't because you will shit your pants when you realize how much money it costs.

ive got a buddy who is a very good welder so that wont be a problem. and ive helped on two scratched together SAS projects so i know that cost can go three times whats expected, trust me im not expecting even this kit to be an easy weekend in the garage. but for times sake having the parts ( most of them ) in a bundle, a little over 4k almost knocked me out of my chair. i checkout out allpro and their kit its overkill for the wheeling i do,( 60 hybrid an 4 link) love their armor tho. jus wanted to se if anyone has tried these prefabbed kits. ps i read p-trees biuld, shows how long it can take, an that was a funny ass thread haha wheres the spoon !!!!

Did you even read through the link that I posted? There is a TG kit and other parts you need to complete the SAS in there. Just because you are a good welder doesn't mean you know how to SAS a tacoma.

i read through your prices thread. the trail gear kit mentioned is kit A, which includes jus the basic stuff. but im not saying the 4 some grand for a kit is the cost of the whole project, just remarking that the kit provides a large number of items needed. welding is a small part i agree, ive done an axle swap on a 83 toyota i had, going from a toyota eight inch front to a eight lug dana 44 which required a complete refab of the steering and suspension. that was done on the cheap and took forever, so i know the headache.
but i did already screw up, in talking to addicted offroad i found that my math and measurements were off and i wouldnt be able to maintain the ride height i want with a leaf sprung axle, the ifs frame is just too low. so its gotta be a 4/3 link.

Lowest you can go with a leaf sprung would be 24" What are you looking to achieve? And what size tires. What axle would you even use? I could go ON AND ON man.

Also a 4link F/r? Looking at $3k more of parts than a leaf sprung

I only do this because people are retards and think they can SAS for $1500, in their garage with their flip flops on and a speedo. No one understands the long term effects, steering will always be shitty, you will break shit more until its upgraded to the max, you will constantly be spending money to make it better.

im looking to do an overall lift of no more than 4 inches over stock, tires size will be 35's. an the four link will only be in the front, the rear will stay just lifted leafs. right now im looking at a diamond axle housing. yup four link will def be more which was why i initially tried for a leaf suspension. im looking into allpros 4 link for some basic parts, but that research is just beginning. the reason im making this more difficult than it has to be is that i work im southern wyo and have a residence and family in colorado so my wheeling is split. colorado is alot of crawling while wyo is alot of high speed trails and hill climbs. so im looking for the strength of a solid axle but with a lower center of gravity than most trail vehicles. trying for the best of both worlds an oh yea am i gonna pay for it. steering geometry is easier to work the lower an solid axle rigs sits tho true it will never quite reach the tight responsiveness of an ifs. i do appreciate your points and im sure youve heard more than enough of people thinking an sas is jus like another lift haha. im on here to get criticism, and rest assured ill postpone the project as long as need be before i compromise on quality or cost.

Not a single capital letter in that entire paragraph . I would roam on Ttora or pirate4x4 before you make any decisions, for hours. I spent AT LEAST 300 hours of online reading and searching before I bought anything.

haha you can see all the good college did me. so ill have to add my name to the list of failed sas candidates:p. after talking to several fabricators i found out the ride height and suspension performance i want are going to put me easily past 12 grand as it would basically be the cost of a SAS and a baja setup combined. in a moment of clarity:D, i realized it would be more cost effective to build two separate rigs. get a trd supercharger an a long travel kit for Wyoming and buy on of the many half done early toyota projects on craiglist for a grand or two to leave in the rockies.

Gotta pay to play man. SAS is the final upgrade you can do to make your truck one of the best.

I know and that's why I play with older Toyota's now.
The Tacoma's are just so damn expensive..

I can fully build a front axle for $1700-2000(used)(longs,locker,5.29s,fj80 rotors, v6 calipers, six shooters, marlin hd) if I spent some time looking for what I needed..and it's straight forward as it could be on 1st or 2nd gen pickups.
Even if it's an IFS truck..you got a box already for hi steer..just plasma your IFS off, align and measure the front hanger cross on, plate it to frame cross, do your measuring for rear sleeves, hang springs, bolt axle up,check your pinion if you plan to correct the perches, cycle it, weld shock hoops on, bolt it all on,set up steering, cycle it again, adjust stops..trim as needed...and it's done. I just helped a buddy finish up a job this weekend..I think he put about 12 hours into it, and we put another 4 into it on Saturday to tidy it up.

It just sucks you gotta pay to play on Tacomas as like you said and everyone else said..there are far few out there with SAS Tacomas.

SAS Toyota Pickups are a different story..I know about 25 people that live within 30 miles of me on Marlin lol.
