Ive been thinking about getting some new riser bars. What is a good brand? does anyone here like riser bars or would I be better off getting a stem spacer or two?

Ive already got one of these waiting to be put on. I feel like I am leaning to far forward on my bike so hopefully the shorter stem will help some.

The battle goes back and forth between risers and flat bars. if you feel too far forward with a flat bar, a shorter stem will help.
I like the feel of a riser bar, but I ride a lot of trails with drops, DH and jumps. The riser helps me lift the front easier than a flat bar and my 40lb bike needs all the help it can get.

I live in a very flat part of the US...haha there are no downhills anywhere near here. I think I might try the shorter stem I got first and then go from there I guess. If I need more I can always add the bars later.

I bought a rocky mount a few weeks ago, mainly cuz I like how "sporty" the truck looks whem the bike is mounted. Then I SOON realized what a pain it would be to get up in the bed, take off the tire, mount the bike, dismount the bike, put the tire back on. Uugggh

so I returned the rocky mount, got my $$$ back, and now I just throw my bike in the bed like I always have, get to the park, take the bike out, and go rip up the trails.

ill be honest if i saw someone ride by me with a camera doing that i probably would have no problem throwing rocks at there truck...but i know thats not the right thing...i doubt the cops could do anything about that though idk :notsure:

here is the rack i made http://www.utahmountainbiking.com/goodies/TruckbedBikeRack.htm

i did have to make it a little more narrow to fit between the wheel wells but the bikes still fit fine when they are right next to each other. but i just realized you had a double cab. if its a short bed then this probably wont work. so i would probably just go with the fork mount unless you have a long bed.

as far as pads go, i always wear a helmet out on the trails. i wear a bmx/skate helmet but im thinking about getting this helmet http://www2.pocsports.com/products/showproduct.asp?category=10-Bike&id=10501 i always were gloves too but thats just personal preference. as far as knee pads its whatever you feel comfortable with. i dont when im riding flat trails or like xc trails but for downhill/fast trails im going to get knee pads atleast. probably 661 kyle knee guards or some sort of knee and shin guard. i havent decided yet since ive only been on a DHish trail once

check out chainlove.com for deals that change every like 30 minutes or so and hucknroll.com they have pretty good deals too.

Put on my Azonic stem last night.

I like the look and it seems to be built really solid but its really heavy. Probably twice as heavy as the stock one. Its shorter though and thats why I got it.

I also got a lizard skin chain protector but its too small to fit. Anyone have an oversized they wanna trade me?!

Picked myself up a Sweet Excellent 2010 KHS XC204. It has a brand new upgraded 2012 Rockshox Sektor SL 150 Travel in the front and 2012 FOX RP23 in the rear. Has new Sram 9 set up as well. Bike is smoking sweet to me. I'm going to upgrade the saddle and grip in white from Sram. Looking to pick up a nice set or white Candy Brothers Acid pedals as well. Sweeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeet! ! !
