I was thinking about doing the dtrl mod and using some leds on my 05. Is an inline resistor going to allow this to work or is it a lost cause.

LED conversion on every accessible bulb, TRD exhaust (dealership threw in for free along with the Blu-Logic).
I have LED's on all four corners. I installed 3ohm 50watt resistors behind the taillights. I mounted them on brackets away from paint and plastic. Just with them installed in the rear it was enough load to stop hyper-flash without having to splice resistors on the front turn-signal leads.

i'm going to revive this thread to ask viet a question..

i have a 2010 regular cab with no drl's i just want the turn signal to function properly i have regular 360 leds from putco no switch backs or anything just a regular old led amber bulb.

i have 6 bulbs in total 2 in the arb 2 in the headlight and 2 in the tail lights for the turn signals. if i can i would just like to replace the flasher to get them to blink properly.

if you could offer any help it would take care of a big confusing mess of a problem for me thanks in advance

man, I would think that there is some money to be made for a manufacturer who comes out with a 12-pin electronic flasher for our new trucks!

i caled napa auto parts they want 50 dollars for the one they say will work for our trucks!

if it works i guess it's money well spent but, if i get it and it doesn't fit and i took apart my dash for no reason i would be pretty pissed.

i'm trying to avoid that outcome.

There are instructions on TW forum for grinding down the resistor and it sure does work. Replaced all my lights front and rear with LED and no hyperflash using the stock flasher (albeit modified). Great mod.

i saw that thread the problem is the bulb type needed to make that work is not the type of bulbs i have.

i have putco neutron leds. there was also another member in there who ground down gradually through the resistor hoop until he broke through and still nothing. when he cut through he had no lights at all he then had to solder on to the hoop and he is back at square one.

i need to find my self a flasher module that will work somebody has to have made one by now.

Do you know the Napa part number? is this the 12 pin relay? I searched the Napa site with negative results. Thanks

After further investigation the heavy duty led 12 pin compatible relay does not exist.

yes it does the local napa auto parts ordered it it's a direct oem replacement for a cadillac's i held it in my hands...

i made a whole thread explaining out what i discovered about the tacoma and led compatability. if your truck has a 12 pin flasher you could try the cadillac 12 pin but, i do not know if the layout is the same.

or your other choice is to modify the denso flasher by grinding down the resistor hoop a little at a time as another member did with srck style led bulbs

if your truck has the 8 pin flasher there is a direct replacement true heavy duty led flasher module availible from both v-leds and superbright model number CF18-04 AND CF18-08 both are compatible and are plug and play. they work excellent btw.
