I think you mean the Castrol 'green', the stuff that's made in Germany. AKA "german castrol" or simply CG.

I agree with Penn Ultra... the VOA's and UOA's on BITOG shows great stuff. And you can get it at WallyWorld in 5 quart jugs... how terrific is that? and to add to it's cred: in Europe it's marketed by Shell (Penn's parent company) as Shell Helix Ultra. It's factory fill in Ferrari's!

I think you'll also find Mobil1 EP is pretty good though. I look for stuff with a lot of TBN headroom since most any fully synthetic oil is pretty good otherwise. It's the additive package that determines OCI's and I want to go 10k/12 months without worries and no UOA's!

Engine wear actually decreases as oil ages. This has also been substantiated in testing conducted by Ford Motor Co. and ConocoPhillips, and reported in SAE Technical Paper 2003-01-3119. What this means is that compulsive oil changers are actually causing more engine wear than the people who let their engine's oil get some age on it.

It's because of the turbo's... temperatures in the turbo's bearings bloom when you turn the engine off (stopping the flow of cooling water) and the oil will start to sludge, reduce flow and then sludge worse until it starts to coke and then turbo death is inevitable.

VW now requires use of special oils: they have to meet VW 502 specification. If you don't have record of using it and changing it on interval you are very likely to find VW won't repair it under warranty. When I owned my Rabbit the only VW 502 oil I could easily find was M1 European Formula in 0W40.

A decent oil? It is the factory fill choice of 40+ vehicles including all Porsches (since 1996), all Bentley vehicles, many Mercedes models, the Nissan GTR, Corvettes (since 1993), etc.

How many cars have Amsoil as factory fill? That's right: NONE!

It seems like any time an oil related thread is started it is only a matter of time until the Mobil 1 bashing begins. To each his own, but I believe if Mobil 1 was not what it use to be manufacturers of high-end, all-out performance cars would look elsewhere for their motor oil.

Agreed but it's not just Mobil 1 that's getting bashed in here.

Threads like this turn into oil debates even though it's not really the topic of the thread or seemingly the intent of the OP.

I would just email amsoil and tell them what you found. Maybe they will give you a bs explanation or maybe they will hook you up.

Running M1 EP in my cars for years, currently have 103k miles on the 4runner and the engine sounds like a singer sewing machine. If you go for M1 step up tp EP. I use Amsoil in the bike that I buy by case and get from distributors and never a problem.

and for all those saying mobil 1 is the best simply because it is the factory fill in a lot of performance cars, thats bs. The only reason they would choose mobil 1 over the rest is because mobil 1 was willing to provide it for the lowest price in exchange for the advertising that comes with saying the factory fill is mobil 1. the advertising seems to be working...

Mobil 1 is the best because after you open engine that run it for 100K everything inside is super clean with little wear. There is no sludge buildup, no crude in oil pan and nothing on the oil pickupline screen. :D

Thats a "pdf smart" VS "I did $hit"

Oh I agree its good oil, just not the best. Changing the oil on time is more important than anything else. I use penzoil platinum simply because its usually the cheapest "synthetic" at wally world.
