    Hi Folks,

I would like to make my 4lo warning chime quieter. My truck still takes a bit
of fiddling around to engage 4lo and that (4lo not engaged) buzzer is really loud to me.

Where is the chime located? I was thinking i would put
a pc. of tape or something over the component and that would
    make it less annoying.

I did a search, but couldn't find anything on this?
Is there a mod for this anywhere?

I don't want to totally defeat the chime, just less loud.

    Thanks for any help.

Engage it and it doesn't make any noise at all.

Make sure you are at a stop if you want 4Lo to engage in a timely fashion. I believe the manual says you can do it at <3mph, but I still think its a good practice to stop.

Unless you want to completely remove it, which probably isn't a great idea, why muffle it?

I guess i don't use 4lo enough, but it is kind of hit or miss
when i engage. I'm fully stopped, clutch ALL the way in...etc.

The buzzer is unnecessarily loud to me is why.

I checked a little more during lunch and it seems the buzzer/chime
    is behind the Glove box...

just wondering if someone has done it?

yea, i agree not a good idea to completely disable it.

I'll do some more looking around this weekend if i have time.

    Thanks,
    PC

Maybe you should have read my post first.

I know how to engage 4lo.
I made no mention of chopping at anything. I just want to put some
tape or something over the chime to reduce the volume.

This truck is tough to engage 4lo...like i said, i don't use 4lo much, so maybe that is the problem.

Thanks for all the on topic help guys...

and Christian, good luck getting your 30,000th post.

OP not to be rude, but if your are following the proper procedures you shouldn't be getting beeped at at all. Make sure the truck is already in 4H, come to stop, push clutch to floor and then switch to 4L

2007's just have the blinking lights on the dash, no buzzer or chime. I've tried to engage it incorrectly before and it didn't make any noise, just lots of flashing lights.

hmm... guess what I'm doing after work :D

I'll go out and throw that bitch in 4lo and see what it does!

Edit: I disabled all my other chimes like the door lock and seatbelt buzzer, would that affect it maybe?

Hmm, not sure. I don't have a seatbelt buzzer or beep on lock on mine, but it was like that when I bought it

Same here, I've never had any chimes or buzzers. I just assumed the dealer disabled all that crap. :notsure:

    Earplugs

If you find the buzzer, put some insulation over it to muffle the sound.
