    getting there....

i didnt have time today for pics.....but basically mine is identical to yours!! i didnt rivet though(like i should have), i used small screws, nuts and washers/lock washers.....and they were a pain in the ass to get tight, but they hold pretty well!! the only problem i had was a little yellow clip kept popping off under the seat, but i finally got that damned thing back on!!!

haha nice to know you're still human and not just an informational robot. can't get the p229 in a .45, and i dont like glocks too much but the sigs are very comfortable to me. they're both great guns, just comes down to personal preference and comfort, above all else. here is a pic of the one i want, don't call it gay cuz you'll end up on the business end of it haha j/k....nevermind about the pic, i can't find one anywhere!! wtf?!?! i have them at work but they aren't even on the Sig Sauer website

Comfort is important but the most important factor is reliability and knowing it will work when/if it absolutely has too. i dont have any first hand experience with Sig's but i've never heard anything negative about them. However, i do know that Glocks are unstopable. I tried getting it to jam. I use toclean my gun after every outing. Then i wanted to see how long i could go without cleaning it before it jammed. I went out on six seperate occasions and never cleaned it. The 7th time is still shot fine so i finally broke down and cleaned it cause i felt bad abusing a nice gun. I have put well over 2000 rounds through that gun and have yet to have a single jam. Although as much as i love Glocks i probably would get something else if buying a .45. My next purchase is either gonna be a .44 special or a tactical shotgun.... i think i need the shotgun :)

I have personally felt no need to abuse my Glock like that. I have read countless testimonials where people have done that, and even one article in Guns and Ammo some years back where a guy took a Glock 17 and put over 10,000 rounds through it without cleaning it, then left it under water for a month or so and it still shot true. My Glock is kind of like my Tacoma. It just works. (How's that for swinging back on topic briefly?) I have owned many firearms over the years, and have only ever had two that jammed. One was a S&W semi-auto .22, and that used to jam like a son of a b!+ch. The other is my Beretta FS92, but that one I solved. I had a couple of no name mags for it, and it was only ever with the no name mags that it jammed. I trashed them and bought a 3 pack of factory 15 rounders (Fing Jersey still limits us to 15 rounds), and have never had a problem with it since.

ND, if your gonna get a .44 make it a .44 mag, you can always shoot specials through it to save some money and re-coil, but wouldn't it be nice to have the mag when you want it?

As for the shotgun, I'm right there with you on that, I just want to finish getting out of debt before I go buying more toys.

I had a Beretta FS92 which i sold to get the Glock. Its a good gun but i just didnt like it for some reason. plus i wanted more than a 9mm. As far as the .44, i gotta disagree. I dont want the .44 mag for the same reason i sold my .357. The round has too much power to use for self defense. 357 as well as the .44 mag are known for going through a body when it hits it. I dont want to have to worry about collaterall damage. Plus, when a bullet travels through something some of the kenetic energy is wasted. When a bullet stops when it hits the target all the bullets energy is dispelled in that particluar mass. when a bullet travels through, energy is wasted. Thats why teh .45 is such a great round with so much stopping power. Its a huge bullet that travels very slow (compared to 9mm and .357 and .44mag.) so it rarely goes through its target. Plus, the magnums have bigger frames which make it hard to conceal. .44 mag is overkill, and i would never use that round so i dont want to have the larger frame. But thats just me. Wow, that was kind of a long winded response.

Either way i think my next gun will be a nice tact shotgun.

Agreed on the mag for self defense, I just meant for the overall fun of it. (I have shot both the .500 S&W revolver and a .50A&E desert eagle over the years, and unless I was hunting bear with them they are both overkill, but sometimes it is fun to be the guy who makes the loudest bang at the range.)

I have a Ruger GP-100 .357 with a 4 inch barrell that I keep .38 +p hydrashocks when that is the on duty gun in the house (I rotate them in and out of service areas in the house so I don't get bored) either way the gp-100 is really no different in size than a comparable .38 Smith. Perhaps the size difference is greater in the .44 mag frame to the .44 special frame, It's been a while since I looked at them.

What are you thinking as far as your tac. shotgun?

I dont know about the shotgun. You can get a descent one for around $300-$400, like Mosberg (sp) or something like that. But a buddy of mine has a Benelli police issue that is really bad ass but thats 1k or over. I'll probably just find something at grady's around the $300 range. For the most part a pump shotgun is a pump shotgun, not a huge amount of difference unless you are looking at performance shooting. I'll just buy something at the right price that feels good. You looking at anything in particular as far as tact sg?

I am not sure, I lean toward a Benelli Supernova Tactical which is in the $430 range, though the Mossberg 500 Tactical is nice as well and comes in in the $380 range, and 50 bucks more in my pocket is always better, but it has an expandable stock which is a gray area in the $h!+ hole that is New Jersey. So I need to check into the laws and their interperitation harder before making a decision.

yea a tactical shotgun would be fun for sure, we have quite a few of them at my work, pistol grips and all. kimber makes GREAT .45s, and Sigs are really great guns. maybe i couldnt fire it underwater or buried in sand, but i wouldnt need to do either and the platinum elite is gorgeous to me for whatever reason...i wish i could find a damn pic of it, it's kinda upsetting me

you sound like you know your stuff as far as the stopping power of the .45 and the energy dispersement of the different calibers...kudos to you, and now i'm more confident in the leadership of The Alliance. one more thing tho...i wonder what the stopping power of a 12 gauge is

yo bro, i can't think of the name off the top of my head but don't buy a shotgun until you look at the one i'm thinking of. they're magazine-fed, thats right, i said they have magazines lol...you can get up to a 15 round mag for it if i'm not mistaken, and they are under $300 new. let me get the name for you

My buddy had a Kimber 9mm and i hated it. I have never felt a gun that felt so cheap and poorly made. I know they are good guns and get great reviews but it just didnt "feel" right for some reason

I was raised in a very "2nd amendment orriented home". I got my first .22 when i was 10. As far as stopping power of a 12 gauge with buck shot or slugs... the scientific term is "way more than enough"

Kimber specializes in .45s, that's probly why it felt cheap. i think they only made one or two models in a 9mm, because out of the 200 Kimbers we have at the shop, there isn't a single 9mm
