Fuel Filter location '99 Tacoma???

Does anyone know where to find the in line fuel filter on a 2.7L '99 Tacoma 4x4?

Manual says either under the intake manifold, or on the rear driver side frame rail, but I checked under the manifold and the entire drivers side chassis and no dice.

Any help?

 

They're almost always on the drivers side, underneath where the driver sits. It's NOT in the tank like a 2nd Gen Tacoma, should be under the truck.

Nah i have read its easy to change. And you are suppose to change it around 100k i think

 

Driver side damn near right below the seat on the inside of the frame rail.

 

on the 2.7 its on the block, drivers side just below the intake plenum/manifold. Its about 3'' long and 2'' tall cylinder. You will see it looking above the top shock tower mount. Very easy to do. Two 17mm bolts for the fuel lines, two 12mm bolts that hold the clamp onto the block, 10mm to loosen the clamp. 15 minute job.

You guys saying it below the driver on the frame, you have a v6. The OP has a 2.7 4cyl...lol, read his post

it' a pita to do if you don't know how to do it right..

 

200k+ and running like shi*, it was suggested to me after I put my headers on and not having the exhaust leak stopped hiding the rough idle, so I thought why not.

I guess i will look harder on the block then, thanks TacoMX. I guess I could have put 4cyl, thought 2.7 said it.

see the fuel line with the copper banjo fitting on it connected to the big black round canister? that is your fuel filter.


Now jack your truck up..take driver side front wheel off..sit inside the fender wells and take off your engine drapes..then look straight inside towards the block and you'll see this

 

I just took a couple of pics. My truck has a 3'' Body lift, so its easier to see.

i have a 99 mine is midway down the frame not on the block bui have a 3.4

 

drivers side beside the frame anyone know the specs for that bolt mine is missing

 

Only picture I could find. Reinstall step 10 on page EG-97 says "INSTALL FUEL FILTER Torque: 20 N-m (200 kgf-cm, 14 ft-lbf)"

 

2.7 = Driver's side block of engine - PITA.

3.4 = Inside of frame rail on driver's side, essentially under driver's seat.

I've owned both and replaced both. The 2.7 fuel filter sucks to replace. Why in the hell didn't they just put it on the frame?
