33s vs 35s

im looking to get a newer tacoma in the near future (probably a 2008-10)
im looking at the 6 cyl standard 4 door off road package 4wd
im thinkin hard about going with 6'' fabtech suspension lift with some 35s with stock wheels when i get the new one
this will be my daily drive and i commute about 130 miles a day round trip to and from work every day can this be done with proper gearing as well as not tear up the truck too bad?

if your going to drive 130 miles a day then go for the 33 inch they look good i have the same set up you want on my truck its not a new gen but you can see the idea

 

there has GOT to be a set of 35s out there that would last...
i have a 98 on 33s with a 3'' body lift but im wanting a little more height to swing some bigger tires
if theres a way to get it set up right to suit my driving situation then i have to do it
for example i know for a fact that some 35'' bfg all terrains would last at least a year and a half on that light truck
and why wouldnt it work?

 

If you're driving that much stick with stock. I have a new dc lb that I put a 6" fabtech with 35's and it looks completely bad ass but it's not my daily driver. Sucks gas but that's to be expected

 

28 spline axle + 35's + 3.73 gears = no bueno.

just get the 35s, make sure you dont get mud terrains though, and get some 4.56 gears then you will be set

Six inch lift are no good. Go with a 3" lift and get some 33" tires. WHy do you want a 6" lift kit with 35" tires? That is going to be terrible MPG's. Anyways, welcome to TW

 

Might as well get a nice set of coilovers and leafs if your gonna spend that kind of money.

 

Get a nice 3" lift and run your 35's. It's doable - that's what I am running and it's fine.

I have an auto. I regeared to 4.56 while I had 33's. It's fine for 35's. But given the choice the small bump to 4.88 with 35's would be perfect.

 

If he gets CO's and a nice set of leafs that is just a waste of money. ha

 

I have a 6" fabtec and 35s and it looks so badass. Mine is a dd but I don't drive that far. 35 mt just weigh so much, it had 32s and kinda looked retarded. Bad gas milage was expected when going bigger but looks too good

 

Yup, cause thousands of people have street queen trucks that will never be traction challenged.

 

I don't like the look of 35s. And even the with the 285s on my truck I wish I had 410s. Your going to want gears. So save up.

 

i understand that gearing will take care of removing the stress from my transmission but what about the other wear and tear items like ball joints for example?
i would like to get some 35'' all terrains
its a less aggressive tire but i do most of my driving on the road anyway
but whos to say i cant get an extra set of wheels with some other tires just for mud
i abuse the hell out of my truck but the thing about it is you have to pay to play and i get that
i just wanted to know if 35s were doable and wouldnt destroy the truck 2 years down the road simply from commuting to and from work

also the main reason i need 35s is for clearance because everyone i go ride with has 35s or bigger and i always find myself high-centered it sucks not being able to follow my friends ruts lol

 

35's won't destory you truck in the long run if you re-gear and are planning on 80-90% of your time on street. If your truck was 100% street no real need to re-gear.

 

With 35"s you will need to cut, a lot. And if you're having problems following peoples ruts in a tacoma, you are not doing it right. My guess is all your friends have retarded chevy trucks. Tacoma = superior over them

 

Don't stop at 35s then get 37s and gear to 4.88s

 

Ive been daily driving my my 6" lifted with 35" BFG KOs with 4.88s for about a year now and get about 18-19mpg average. I could NOT be happier.
