Drive shaft grease... PLEASE HELP!!

    Hey guys,
    I used the search function, but did not find what I was looking for. I thought I read on this forum something about greasing Zerk fittings every oil change or so.... Long story short, I went to advanced auto and picked up a tube of the mobil one synthetic grease... Is this a correct grease to use?? It looked pretty generic, but I have trusted Mobil 1 with my truck for some time, and haven't been disappointed. Is this an ok grease to use?? I am assuming I just grease until I see the old stuff starting to come out? Thanks for the help guys!

    Can anyone give me some details on the grease maintenance? It's not listed anywhere on any of the service interval sheets. I've put 30k miles through my 2010 and haven't done anything like greasing.
    Any pointers to prep for this winter season?

    5100 @ 1.75, tsb rear springs with 5100. anytime fogs, rear diff breather, 50 cal ammo boxes on bed rails
    So I consider myself fairly savy when it comes to working on cars/trucks but grease zerks are not something I am familiar with. I tried to grease mine a few weeks ago and could not see where it is supposed to 'come out'. I was able to squeeze the lever a few times and push greases in but I did not know where to look to see the old being pushed out.

    Any advice on this?

    That grease is exactly what I use on my driveshaft. I also use it to grease all the zerks on my commercial lawnmower.

    Just tighten the fitting on the zerk and start pumping. Eventually you will hear a pop or crackle sound and you will see the old grease start coming out. Pump until you start to see pink coming out (new grease).

    It will start squirting out little holes in the U-joint. Believe me, you'll see it.

    Foglights are for fog, not oncoming traffic!
    I wipe the zerks clean with a rag BEFORE I inject the grease.
    Just trying to keep dirt and grit out of the deal.
