miss during low rpm and WOT

    This truck is new to me. 1997tacoma ext cab 5-speed 4X4 v-6 244K the truck has a real bad miss and jerks real hard if you are in lower rpms and try to accelerate. Ex. taking a corner in 3rd and then trying to get back to speed. truck starts and idles perfect sounds great. I am thinking i will replace fuel filter, plugs and wires but wanted to see if anybody had this happen to them and what the fix was. Thank you

    I have read that the fuel filter is under the drivers seat inside the rail for the v-6's. Is there any good tricks to make this project easier

    That's exaclty where it's at, and it's a piece of cake. There's 1 bolt holding the filter to the bracket and it comes right off.

    I'd suggest you use a flair nut wrench on the fuel lines instead of a regular box wrench so you don't strip the heads of the fuel lines. Also do this BEFORE unbolting the bracket.

    Stick with factory twin electrode factory Denso or NGK for the plugs.
    I personally would stick with the factory Denso wires, but I'm just anal retentive that way. I like the wires not being too long which they always seem to be when you get them aftermarket.
    My fuel filter is from kragen/oriely.

    Plugs you can get otherplaces. Kragen/Oreily caries NGK.
    I doubt you'll find Denso plugs or wires locally outside the dealer. My dealer parts I normally order from here:

    It's about 1/3 of the price of you're local dealer and no tax if you're out of state and free shipping over $100. They normally have killer deals on 10 packs of OEM oil filters that comes out to less than 4 bucks a filter.

    just changed the fuel filter with a new wix, the plugs with new NGK's and I don't remember the brand of wires but the where the expensive ones. The wires said 1997 so i am assuming they where original. the plugs where so burnt up i am surprised it even had spark. truck is running 100% better and i am hoping fuel economy increased too. thanks for the help and the tips.
