    This nation was found when religion played a large role in society and social structure. It was a crutch to lean on to create a civil and organized community. We're close to being past the point of needing it anymore.

    Basically, we've "evolved" in social structure so that we no longer need religion.

    The Golden Rule is "Do unto others as you would have done unto you" , not "Do unto others as God would do unto you"

    I used to not trust evolution, mostly because I didn't believe in the big bang theory. But this made it very clear for me, and now it makes much more sense.
