Called scangauge about the trans temp issue. They said they had success on 1 truck but it was in Austrailia. They told me to send mine in and they would upgrade the firmware at no charge ($25.00 savings) and I should report back to them on success or failure. I recommend giving them a call maybe can get a freebie also.

IF you purchased the scangauge after January 1st you get a free upgrade

    http://www.scangauge.com/support/upgrade/

But you still have to pay shipping. Don't think I will be updating mine ever again. Cost me $40 and they stole my box and sent it back in a envelope and I didn't get it back for a month. :turtleride:

I know but still I think they should upgrade it for free and you just pay for shipping or include a USB port. Good deal if you purchased after January 1st of 2011 though.

$5 for a USPS priority mail envelope that gives you tracking too. Yeah mine is currently at Linear Logic pending the update. James from LL joined the forum and offered up the TFT codes, but you have to run version 4 of the firmware or newer, and there are a couple of other caveats.
I can't wait to give it a try when I get my unit back.

They are covering shipping also. Everyone should give it a try.

So just that it is 100% clear:

If we do the update, we will be able to actually READ automatic transmission temperature?

They are not 100% sure it has been tried 1 truck with success, but that was in Austrailia. Hey if nothing else you get a free firmware update, a $25.00 value.

My recently purchased ScanGauge II (firmware ver 4.06) can't be programmed to read TFT or FLV on 2010 Taco. Are there any tricks or programming changes? What is the latest firmware version that LL is using for the updates?

The 2010 Tacoma requires a new set of parameters shown below. The latest firmware verison is 4.06.

    Transmission Temperature (Degrees F)
    TXD: 07E02182
    RXF: 046105820000
    RXD: 3808
    MTH: 00090005FFD8
    NAM: TFT

The measured values seem to be accurate. I started the truck this afternoon with outside temperature at about 58F. ScanGauge returned the following values:

    TFT (transmission temp) 50
    fWT (water temp) 49
