is the sway bar necessary ????

    is the sway bar necessary on my truck ? i hear a lot of people taking it off there truck. i have a 6 inch lift.

    but with that 6in lift, I would leave it on. Your COG is pretty high now so rollovers are a real threat.

    Yea idk how it'll affect a DB type lift. I love not having mine tho. I got more flew outa the front and rear

    ya ill see how it feels with it off gut i just read the other threads of the same subject and they say that at high speeds it feels scary

    This truck is a work truck - not a lot of fancy mod's here, but it's getting the job done!
    I ran my cherokee without swaybars just fine - had a bout 5" of lift - you just have to absolutely know your vehicle, it's limitations, how to drive, etc... here is a pic of that cherokee for your pleasure:

    All that said, if your truck is your DD and mainly sees asphalt, concrete, twisty roads, etc, keep them on for your own safety.

    Tint (35%), a must. Step bars, Bull bar, Bull lights,4x4 light mod, Flip down 10" DVD player, De badged, Color match front emblem, color matched bumpers., black out tails, Cobra cb, Flashlight mod,bed-light mod,
    After lifting the truck you already throw off the COG as stated above. In order to compensate for the loss one should put the widest tire that you can put on the vehicle.This adds stabilty. removing the sway bar? Dude do what you want,but be careful.

    i know i got spacers on mine witch sticks half of my tire out the wheel-well, but im just going to leave it on :) just for safety

    Swaybar's function is to let your front end slide (understeer) at the limit. The swaybar will not help you if your outside wheel catches on a rut or curb like in ghoukas' situation.

    For 1995-2000 Tacos there are various sway bar quick disconnect links available, for example:

    2nd Gen 4x4s don't have this luxury because the swaybar link attaches to the spindle, not the control arm.

    Well......Not really. The function of a sway bar is usually to prevent weight transfer from one side to the other in cornering situations. By preventing weight transfer, the inside wheel in a corner maintains more of its static weight.......thus preventing a possible roll over, or a slide, etc.

    Rear Gate security Mod (although I seldom take my eyes off it) "Harsh Ride" Shocks and Springs TSB performed by "Me" New Cooper Discoverer AT3s 265/75R16s (fit well) Front "Tacoma Mike" light mod! Rugged Ridge floor mats. Bought another set of D rings and installed them in my wheel well. Perfect! Just hit the big 6000 Miles 12/19/11, Installed an alarm system to go with my factory power door locks 1/21/12
