So I was in the middle of getting rid of some frame rust and painting everything when I come along these two spots...

These are inboard of the spring hangers and I am concerned about the integrity of my frame. I showed my dad and at first he didn't think that it was a big deal, and then he realized it was the frame and not some part of the hanger. he says I can take it into Toyota...well that's great but who the hell is going to listen to a 17 year old at a car dealership. How should I proceed?

Thats my plan but I'm having serious doubts that they'll just turn me away

IT doesnt matter whom owns the truck... That doesnt look safe to drive period get it down there yesterday. You will get a rental (your dad scince you arnt of age to get one) BTW before you take it down there take anything you want off of it they wont let that leave the lot once it pulls in.

EDIT: Frame inspections are very common they wont think twice about your age. As long as you have a VALID registration.

Just rember though judging by that pic i cant see a chance in hell they would let that leave the lot. you will either need a ride home or someone old enough to get a rental.

I hope so. My next concern is that I do have frame plates welded in there and its obvious I did my own undercoating job on it. I'll probably take it in on the weekend though, so I'll see in a few days.

So I'm trying to find some paper work for this stuff and I found a few letters that people got that specifically say the recall does not include vehicles registered in Missouri. If my frame still has holes in it do you think they'd still replace it?

That is up to toyota but 100% sure it will be fixed. Imagine the liability that would cause. Just call your local yota and schedual an appt, When they see that shit condition toyota corporate will take care of it.

Every state is covered under the recall. MO isn't covered under the dealer undercoating. I got my old truck bought back when I was 18. They didn't hassle me at all. The dude was chill. They let me take it back home for the 3 weeks before they got me a check.

Like has been said already, every state is covered under the frame recall. Missouri is just not covered for the undercoating that Toyota was spraying on the frames.

Get that in ASAP. Toyota will most likely replace the frame. I was just at my dealership and they are still replacing the 01-04 frames here so you are likely to get a new frame.

If you have other work that needs to be done, talk to them about it because you may get a discount on the labor since they are literally going to tear the truck down to put the new frame on and then build it back up.

Sweet I didn't know that. Well it's jut my luck that the frame is now nice and black after undercoating it, but the holes are still obvious. I will take it in this weekend for sure, thanks for all the help.

Oh and you will get a new frame, not a buyback. So don't worry about taking stuff off.

I'm surprised my expo springs haven't punched a hole straight through the frame via the hangers. I've romped on it pretty good but not THAT good. We're trying to get everything scheduled for this weekend to take it in.

Not necessary. If the OPs info is right, he has an '01. 01-04 are just frame replacements not buy backs.
