Could you sleep in your tacoma?

If you had to sleep on the road, while travelling, every second night or so for 2 weeks, is the interior comfortable enough when the seat is fully reclined that you could do it?

Does anyone have a picture of the interior with seat fully reclined?
We havent bought our tacoma yet, because me and my wife are torn between access cab and double cab.

I'd like to know from access cab owners and Double cab owners if its doable.

We're planning a cross Canada Trip and back through the US and we're planning at staying in motels, B&B every second night and sleeping in the truck every other night, if this is possible.?


If we get the access cab, then well sleep in the box with a shell, but if we get the DC, (manual) the box is too short to sleep in. Which is why I ask.

weel the DC's back seat bottom cushion folds out to a flat plastic bed. you could put some bedding down on that. might work.

 

I slept in my passenger seat in my double cab every night for 2 months. Every now and then I'd throw my pillow in the bed, and drop the tailgate and catch some ZzZz's when I wasn't afraid of my coworkers pulling any pranks (the campground I parked in was right next to the RR tracks).

I was fairly comfortable. I think my seats in my truck are more comforable then the chairs in my house, but if you are comparing the seats to an actual bed, there will be a little left to be desired.

 

I spent some nights in my double cab as well. Its much nicer to sleep on the passenger side than the drivers side (more leg room). So if the wife is shorter than you I suggest you call shotgun before going to sleep .

 

I probably can...and will...once I own it.

I have slept in my truck...It's doable. But why not get a tent or whatever??

 

how about a double cab, long bed with a shell....then you have options for sleeping and luggage.

 

It's the automatic tranny thats killing it for me...
Long box = auto tranny only.

Im about 5' 4''. I've slept in the backseat of my dbl cab. I was at a field party and I dont kno if I was just really tired or what but I can honestly say it was some of the best sleep i've ever had. HaHa and I had no pillow or cover.

 

THe seat in the Access Cab is limited as to how far it will go back. I am able to sleep with it tilted up some but you are not able to get it anywhere near flat.

 

A crib mattress (no, not the ones on MTV) will fit perfect in the DblCab with the seat backs down and the front seats slid forward/seatbacks forward. Cheap stuff new at Wal-Mart or Sam's Club. I visit my parents in FL, driving from SC and I usually like to leave right after work. I'd rather travel at night so no sense of going home first. I get down to the 1st FL rest area on I-95 and grab a couple of hours sleep. The good thing about that is the FL rest areas are guarded by a SITTING Highway Patrol Trooper. He doesn't zip in and out, He's there till 7am.,(my findings) I feel a bit more at ease and I have yet disturbed him/her or others with my snoring.

 

im 6'3" 222lbs and ive slept in the driver seat of my xcab..

Ive also slept in the driver seat of my old 2.5rs so....

I have an '07 access cab. I folded down the rear seats so they were flat then unrolled a hiking mat on it. I slept pretty well but it was also alcohol induced every semester our team has a pig roast/bon fire/field party and I tried out the truck then. It proved to be a stiff bed, but more comfy than I expected. I'm 6'4 so i slept with my legs bent and had nothing to complain about.

 

My Wife and I took a two week trip in the desert in ours. But my landlord gave me his old ratty camper top which I stuck on the bed. If you can get one of those and throw in a futon mattress, it is actually pretty damned comfortable. Plus with two people, it stays nice and warm.

Air mattress in the bed with a good sleeping bag. If you have a soft cover that's a bonus...

I have slept in my 09 Access cab twice. Once in the driver's seat once in the passenger seat. If you lay the passenger seat as far back as it can go and then slide it back util it is just shy of the back way you will have plenty of room to streach out, and it's comfortable as hell IMO. Next time my wife gets pissed, screw the couch, I'm sleeping in the truck.

I also layed down in the bad for a while one but without padding it's not a great place to sleep. With padding and a topper you are golden as far as the bed goes.
