The aluminum TRD Sport front skid would look pretty sick if it was carbon fiber! for an original idea!

carbon fiber along with the gel coat would get destroyed from blunt hits. If your going to spend that much get a bud built skid-bullet proof

Not a bad Idea, I will look into this, although I think it will be tough to work in the latch. Unless you guys just want carbon fiber covers...

White, debadged, Mudflaps removed, ICON 2.5 in front, 2.0 in rear, all 4 corners have reservoirs, Spidertrax wheel spacers all around, BAMF bolt on sliders, Avid lightbar, oem transmission cooler converted to power steering cooler, aftermarket transmission cooler eliminating all oem transmission cooler stuff, remote mounted spin on transmission fluid filter TrueTrac rear differential, rear diff housing vented and filtered into left side bed box, URD MAF calibrator, Volant intake scoop into oem airbox, second filter removed, airbox internals smoothed, blended and polished throttle body, NST intake manifold spacer, Wet Okolee set covers, WeatherTech Digital Fit mats, inexpensive JVC single DIN, Scangage, AVS Stepshield door sill protectors, Doug Thorley Long Tube Headers, URD Y pipe with O2 sims.
If you have the carbon fabric and the materials to make molds, you might consider a few other items before a skid plate.

Engine cover, airbox, intake duct, door sill guards.

Skid plate should be easy, but to be worthy, you are looking at probably 12 plies minimum of 3k carbon.

You doing this with prepreg or wet layup?

It could be very light weight, but can't see it holding up well in use. Could even cause problems if it disintegrates while sliding across a rocky obstacle.

I agree with this. Carbon fiber engine cover would be cool, probably crazy expensive but it'd be bad ass! If you could make some nice interior replacement items I'd be interested as well like areas to get rid of the textured silver plastic crap. A skid plate is a neat idea but not really practical. Although you don't intend to take a hit, you'd be crying the first time something significant does hit it and leaves a big, unrepairable gash in the most expensive skid plate ever. Unless it's for show use only, I wouldn't waste the material on a skid plate.
