What do you guys think about my truck and my new roof rack? First post of my truck up here I think. This is a roof rack off of a 95 or 96 model 4runner I ran across in the junk yard. Just had to shorten it a few inches, and repaint it. $20.00 Invested total!!!!!!

That looks pretty good, kinda OEM-ish. Are you planning to put a basket up top?

Thanks guys, I just set it up there and looked and looked and made sure I would be happy with it before mounting it. I had to drill about twelve bolt holes to mount it. I know some of you think this is taboo but at the end of the day its only sheet metal. I too think it turned out pretty good.

This may seem like a stupid question... but if you drilled bolt holes did you have to drop the headliner to thread the other side? Or did you just use sheet metal screws through the top?

I used stainless steel sheet metal screws. I pulled the door seal rubber down & looked up there with a flash light for clearance issues. I then put a rubber hose over my drill bit so it wouldnt shoot through the headliner as soon as it went through the metal. After the screw was set in the hole, I then removed it and dipped it in silicone seam sealer and reinstalled it. I also thought about the nut on the bottom idea, but the sheet metal screws worked so good, I said to heck with it. I can always do that later if I have any issues.:D

They do make a roof rack for the dcabs. Mine came with one. There not very common though.

That rack looks nice. First time ive seen someone do this.

I am not so sure on this but I would think these racks are very common in salvage yards. I had three to choose from at the yard I was in.
