Facts about your state or where you come from

I know across America their are interesting places and unique things about those areas, heres a good place to let others know interesting things about where you come from that maybe no one knows.

I come from Hawaii and we have a lot of things no where found on the planet, 1st one i can think of is the wettest place on earth, its found on Kauai on Mount Wai ale ale. Another i can think of is the highest mountain on earth Mauna Kea when measured from the sea floor, its higher then mount Everest.

Tell me whats awesome about your state or country that makes you unique! i know their is a lot of history in a lot of the states out there and i would like to hear them

North Carolina

Birth of flight (screw you ohio)
Home of pepsi and vick vapor rub (the vvr from my hometown is why i know that)
The best bbq (vinegar based FTW)
Great beaches and mountains
Home to the best city in america , Raleigh
the reason you can eat fresh apples all year long (learned that in a class last year. some type of coating developed at my university is a patented type of deal that they spray on them)
pretty sure we're the worlds leader in production of sweet potatoes and pork
Home of Hardees (Carls Jr for you westerners)
The best college basketball programs (undisputed)

California is the most screwed up state in the country.

 

VA...Commonwealth State and for that it SUCKS! Other than that there is alot of history here. Where I live, I can get to a beach in 5 minutes and the mountains in a few hours. I'm also surrounded by every military installation there is which I think makes for a good target.

It is known that Blackbeard the pirates' head was steaked at the mouth of one of the rivers near my hood after he was captured and beheaded

The town where I'm from (Smithfield) is the Ham Biscuit capital of the world. If you've ever heard of Smithfield Ham or any food product with the name Smithfield on it, it's made in my neck of the woods.

Our sports teams good at times "almost" always choke (95 Braves)
We don't all live in trailers despite what the rest of the country thinks.
We have the world's busiest airport.
When it does snow here, all stores sell out of bread and milk.
Our ground is red clay.

It's hot as hell and humid here.

King Ranch in south Texas.

 

Hawaii is also the place where world war 2 started with the bombing that Japan did on Pearl HArbor and also the ship that it ended on which is the USS Missouri that is also parked in Hawaii at Pearl Harbor.

Hawaii also has the Biggest private working ranch in US, it is the the famous Parker ranch here on the bigisland of HAwaii
