Tire Balancing Issue Need help from tire experts!

This is a shout out to all tire subject matter experts!!
Please no brand bashing just need suggestions thank you
2 weeks ago I buy 4 Goodyear Silent Armors to replace the stock highway tires on my tundra. The stockers had no vibes from factory for 800 miles.

The Goodyears were installed by a local tire shop that does only tires.
I have dealt with them before and are good guys, very busy!
From the get go I had a 55-65 mph vibe mostly in the steering wheel.
No time to go directly back & figure I will let the tires get some miles on them.
200 miles later I go back & ask to have the tires checked. They rebalance the fronts.
Drive another 400 miles and still the annoying vibe.

So yesterday I go back and they are not as busy tell the service tech what is going on & he says they usually never had problems with SAs.
I had a set on my Tacoma they installed for 50k miles no issues so I know I like the tires.
After an hour they tell me there is a "troublesome" tire on the front & move it to the back in hopes it will less of a problem and break in.
So I leave to head out to a commitment that is going to have me on the highway all day. The truck now is much worse! I didn't get home to late so I snapped a pic.

FWIW the other 3 tires have one weight or no weight on factory steel wheels.

I had made an appt at Toyota today to have the wheels checked & balance but really do not know what to do. Will these tires break in?
I cannot stand this vibe & the tires have a 30 day drive guarantee do I just ask for a replacement tire? Will getting them balanced somewhere else help (even though it will be more $$ )
Any input or suggestions appreciated before this 230 rebalance appt. Thanks!

I don't know how good of a relationship you have with the people you bought the tires from but something looks off. That's an awful lot of weight, it almost looks like the tire is out of round and they're using a ton of weight to make it balance properly. Some people have seemed to have trouble balancing M/T's but you shouldn't have issues with silent armors. I'd be looking to get another tire, it seems that one is defective.

 

The guys are cool at the shop & have used them before so I know they try and accomodate. They have all worked there for awhile and probably have a protocol to follow.

I have to say keep going back is a pita and the shop is on the way to the dealer so I will stop in before spending money. It looks weird to me I know nothing but it drives like crap in the range I mostly drive

The goodyear 30 day guarantee also I will just say not happy take them back but want to see I asked you all for you have more knowledge than me. Gotta say those weights look fugly.

 

60 ish mph vibrations are usually ballance.
I see a bunch of weight on the picture shown.
Suggest moving the tire on the rim as sometimes you can reduce the large amount of weight needed to balance them.

Have them put the ones with the most weight in the rear( they usually do)
Some tires are not built well and have poor quality control.
Good luck on the rebalance.

Thank you yes they moved the tire to the back for it was originally on the front. Also added more weight. It appears they may have moved it too.
I think I am just going to call them now to see what they suggest before I spend more money. My other SAs were good from the get go very happy QT may have changed

I called and they are going to process it as a defective tire, so after lunch will get it fixed.
They do road force balance there, so I was wrong earlier.
So they shop is taking care of it.
For me it is old stuff like I'm being a pain in the a$$ or over sensitive do not like to complain much or know how I guess

Sounds like a reputable shop, some would sugest pounding sand since you drove it 200 miles.
Glad they stood behind the tire.

 

First off larger tires and heavier tires are harder to balance.

The silent armor is a heavy tire compared to other makes of equal size.

It should be able to balance with under 2.5 oz of weight.

As someone else stated you can try to rotate the tire on the rim at about 40 degrees at a time to try and find the heavy spot of the wheel and the tire and have them counter each other so less wheel weights are needed.

The idea to put the tire on the rear of the vehicle is to just hide the fact it is not ideally balanced. Less is felt when placed in the rear vs the front.

There are two accepted methods of balancing used. Static and dynamic.

One places weight on the outside or inside only and the other places weight on both outer circles of the wheel. It takes longer but gives a balance that is accurate compared to the other. It matters more as the tires get larger and heavier.

It is likely the tire is out of balance and defective as they junked it or did not want to spend the time on it.

Anytime you see wheel weight on different areas of the same outer or inner rim it has not been properly balanced.
