Biggest Tire on 07 TRD Sport

Dhead, im on the same boat as you man. i have a 07 4door and i would like to lift it up at least 3". I too am new on this site and Im trying to get some ideas.

Quick question: What do you mean when you say "new UCAs"? Because I noticed you said a 3" would cover the 285/70 AT or 265/70 MT; what is a UCAs? I just put on the Federal MT 285/70/17 because I wanted the 33" tire and the width, but noticed that my current setup isn't going to cut it; they rub. I have a 2" leveling front with 1" from Bilstein and 1" rear and was running 255/75/17 BFG KM1s and was great. I figured I can get away with slappin' on the 285/70 Federal MT, but no dice. I guess I'll have to swap out the 2" leveling and put in the 3" leveling and hope that'll do it. So again, what is a UCAs? Thanx FNPPRV

 

UCA's are upper control arms, the upper-most pivot point on an independent suspension. On tacomas, if you go over 2.5" of front lift, you need to buy aftermarket UCA's in order to get your alignment in spec.

So you know this for a fact that I will need aftermarket UCAs if I go with the 3" leveling? Not to question your expertise, but limited funds on my end is an issue. Thanx, FNPPRV.

 

You will need them to get your caster right. If you have live with a poor alignment and eal with the trucker having a wandering feeling, then you don't "need" the uca's I suppose.

 

New to the forum. Just traded for a 2011 Sport 4x4 DCLB and I am looking to upgrade my wheels and tires. I am leaning towards:

Tires Hankook DynaPro ATM
General Grabber AT2 both 265/70/R17

Wheels V-Tec Wheels 326 Off-Road 17x8.5

In the future I would like to be able to upgrade to a wider wheel and put a 3" suspension lift on the truck. I don't know much about wheels...does anyone see any issues with the above wheel/tire combo on a stock suspension? What kind of offset, center, and backspace should I order on the wheel? There are alot of options on the website. I have attached links below.

If you order that wheel in 4.5" backspacing, the you won't need new wheels later on when you get larger tires.

New question: went to the website of choice to order the Vtec offroad wheels and can't seem to figure out which ones have 4.5" BS on a 17*8.5...it doesn't appear that any of them do. Also, do I have to think about the bolt pattern here? I know I have a 6x5.5" but cannot seem to figure out which one of them fits that mold either. I have attached the link.

5.5" = 139.7 mm. So you need the 6 x 139.7.

Appears they come in 5.5" bs only, you won't be able to fit 285s with that setup, but would be good to go with 265s

 

i have t 2 wheel drive prerunner dublecab that has 245/75/16 tires was wanting to know what the bigest tire is that i can run with no issues i dont have TRD package if that makes a differance, new to tacomas, ya'lls help would be greatly appreciated

I have a 2011 4x4 DCLB Sport with stock 17s on a stock suspension. Would there be any issue for me to take off the 17s and put on 16s (4.5BS) with 265/75/r16 tires? TPMS or overall fit issues?

wanted ProComp 17s but they are on national backorder until Jan.

 

Only issue would be that some 16s don't clear the bake calipers.

I had a 2006 TRD Sport with 265 70 17 BFG AT KO's and loved them. I sold it and purchased 2012 TRD Sport Upgrade package with 265 60 18 "performance" tires. Before I drop a chunk of change, have checked my math a few times on the beautiful tire size calculator on TW, but just want to make sure.

The BFG AT's I'm looking at are 265 65 18. The OD on these are 31.7" compared to 31.8" on the 265 70 17's that were on the old truck. The width is the same of course. The truck is stock, no lift.

And yes everyone, kind of like the cheesy "chrome clad" rims!

 

I have 265/65/18's and ran them before I lifted, with no issues. Some folks have fit 285/60/18's on stock suspension as well, because they are only a 32" tire.

 

question for kpt, have 2011 dc,lb,trd sport, i put on micky thompson baja atz radial, onboze stinger 6 wheels, tires are 265/70R17, have a 3 inch leveling kit up front and adding a 2inch lift in back, question you said spacers are not good , why? and what solution?

 

Get a wheel with negative offset or 4.5" backspacing that should make your tires stick out more if that's what you are going for

 

I don't ever recall saying wheel spacers are bad...are you talking about spacer lifts?
