Hey all. So both of my outter cv's are shot and vibrating like crazy. So I am going to replace both axles but don't have the cash right now. So is there anyway I can just remove the front axles untill have cash for new ones?

Nope, not safe at all. With no axle, the only thing attaching it is the wheel bearing and that will go the first time you turn the wheel, along with all the brake components and the wheel/tire itself.
You can get reman. axle assemblies for like $50 each through places like autozone. I just replaced both mine with brand new EMPI assemblies I got thru autopartswarehouse.com for $100 each with no core

That sucks, at least with a solid axle you can just pop out the shaft and keep going.

They disassembled the CVs and installed them in both the differential end and the wheel end with nothing in between.

    Ban because:

    1. Serious lack of understanding of front end of his Tacoma (and all Toyota IFS 4X4 vehicles since the 80s...)
    2. Passing that crap information along
    3. Recommending non-OEM axles

I moded 1999 Taco so much it had turned to Land Cruiser
    Sarcasm :notsure:

Otherwise he "toytaco" is 100% correct. Can't run wheel with out the CV because wheelbearing going to slide out.

    lol~!!

and there's no way i'd depend on tape and "towels" to hold my front diff fluid in, come to think of it i dont know why you'd buy a 4x4 just to take the front axles out, seems retarded to me but to each their own!! coughprerunnercough?

A few of the guys running the Engage LT kit are still waiting for a 4x4 solution. In the meantime, they removed the axle shafts to keep their trucks drivable.

And yeah, at least for now they're driving nose-heavy prerunners.
