No Off Road Option on 2012 TRD DCLB?

Hi all, been browsing the forum for awhile now in preparation for purchasing first Taco. Looking at a 2012 DCLB with TRD with Off Road pacakge but I only can find TRD Sport option for DCLB. Is it just not available now and should I wait or will this offer never be available?

 

It wan't available before and it won't be available now. The Off-Road only come in Short Bed.

Wow, great response time. Thanks guys. I'm in need of a Double Cab Long bed for sure, so I guess i'm buying it without the OffRoad package. What is the biggest difference between the TRD Sport and the OffRoad package for 2012?

The Offroad has the locker , ATRAC , and is available in manual

The LB Sport is auto only , no locker

 

LSD vs Locker. Sport has a limited slip and the Off Road has a locker.

Yes, I will be getting 4X4. I hunt occasionally and will need a 4X4 based on the terrain im in.

 

Just a FYI , if you are planning on lifting later and changing the suspension parts , you can save some $ getting an SR5 4x4 rather than the TRD Sport

^This. If you're out in the woods, you do not want a sport for two reasons: 1. Harder to see over the hood scoop, 2. You don't want painted mirrors! If I had painted mirrors at this point, they'd look like crap with all the branches and brush that has scraped across them over the years.

 

The scoop is not hard to see over unless you are a midget

 

I'm 5'7" tall, with that said I have driven a Sport and didn't have any issues seeing over the scoop.

 

Me too, I don't get that excuse...Weak.

I also don't buy the scratched mirror thing. I color matched my mirrors and have offroaded mine many times on tight wooded trails...no chipping or peeling yet...Fortunately my truck is silver so it doesn't show scratches.

 

I've got lots of scratches in mine, one of which is pretty big from a large branch that wouldn't give (it was broken off from previous trail users). Some of the forest roads I travel are so overgrown that you'd have to duck your head walking in the middle of the road. Picture the brushes of a car wash going over your windshield.

 

I scratch the shit out of my painted plastic parts and have had no issues wouldn't expect the mirrors to be any different. With all of this said I don't own a sport just drove one because the people here said the scoop was an obstruction.

 

When you are off roading uphill and downhill on steep grades, you want as little hood in the way as possible for tire placement... the FAKE hoodscoop (it has NO mechanical function, only there for looks) is an addition that you cannot see through even if you are 7 feet tall.

 

No doubt but I can't see over the hood of my truck on a steep grade either. If this is the case then he also doesn't need the double cab or long bed because the single cab short bed will be much better.
For this poster I don't feel the hood should be a consideration, either he likes it or he doesn't. Plain and simple

 

The vibe I'm getting from this guy's knowledge level is that long term offroad usage is a non-factor. The truck will see dirt roads at worst.
