You can do it, but as we pointed out, it is not "recommended" by the wheel manufacturers.

A simpler solution would be to just find a different wheel.

I'm pretty sure there are quite a few out there.

American Racing makes some, not sure if they come in our bolt pattern, though.

Just go on a generic site like www.tirerack.com or www.4wheelparts.com and look around. Once you find one you like that meets your needs, start shopping around for the best price.

Here's a picture of one of my 275/65/18 Duratrac's on a 9" wheel. My 275 is less than .5" wider than a 265 and you can see in the picture how much play there is in the sidewall, mine aren't stretched at all.

Diameter is irrelevant for your initial question.

Dude...you're killing me. Forget anything that has to do with an 18" rim.

Brett was simply saying that he is running a wider tire, on a 9" rim and he has no issues. This tells you that you are able to run the tire you initially wanted, on the wheel that you initially wanted. Which, is what we said all along, you just need to be aware that the manufacturers do not recommend it.

To answer the question about the 265/65-17...yes, they do make them. TRD Sports come with 265/65-17 Bridgestones.

I say go with 16" x 8.5" on 265/75/16's.

18"s belong on a car IMO...

 

Yea as said they will work, but you are better off looking for a 17x8" wheel. The first number is the width (265).

I had a TRD Sport with 17's and 265/70-17 MTZ's and the damn thing bounced all over the place on trails and rough roads. No bueno.

i found some 17x8.5!!!!
now i can put the duratracts on!! or nitto terra grappler? which one would you prefer?

Is your truck a 5-lug or 6-lug?

I think it's a 5-lug and if so, that wheel will stick out about 1" wider than the stock wheels, IIRC.
